I like all kinds of music. Christian rock, classic rock, rock, soul, R&B, traditional jazz, jazz fusion (some smooth jazz), opera, classical and country (mostly classic country). And reggae too (especially from the '60's thru the '80's). And last but not least, traditional Hawaiian. :)

Metal. All metal. Pretty much. I gravitate to thrash and progressive stuff mostly. Power metal for specific bands like Nightwish.

Country is a no go for me. I grew up in the south and I loathe it and the culture around it. Makes me want to stab people, lol.

These young guys are amazing. What music can do.

Hail Gladdening Light
Of His pure glory poured
Who is the Immortal Father, Heavenly Blest
Holiest of Holies, Jesus Christ our Lord
Now we are come to the sun's hour of rest
The lights of evening 'round us shine
We hymn the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit Divine
Worthiest art Though, at all times to be sung
With undefiled tongue
Son of our God, Giver of life alone
Therefore, in all the world Thy glories Lord
Thine own

I like most all musical genres. 50s-90s Pop and R & R, Soul, Blues, Big Band jazz, Classical (Mozart, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, and Richard Strauss especially,) some Broadway show tunes, and Opera (Verdi, Bellini, Donizetti, and Wagner,) I'm not a big fan of C & W. But I do like Bluegrass, especially when performed--as it should be-- with acoustic instruments. Kathy Mattea does a great version of the old Civil War song, The Vacant Chair. It was used in the PBS Civil War series. One of my favorite Bluegrass performances. The mandolin and dobro are exceptional.

Mine are listed below with examples. Anything but Top 40 pop, modern hip-hop/trap, metal or modern country, though some of these young country artists such as Zach Bryan, Chris Stapleton (my favorite) or Dan + Shay from the 2020s are taking country back to the 1990s before Taylor Swift and Florida Georgia Line pop-ified it back in 2010 or so.

Old-school future house (2013-2016):
Future bounce (after 2016):
Indie pop/indie rock:
1970s soft rock:
1980s new wave:
1990s alternative (not grunge): Gin Blossoms - Found Out About You (Lyrics HD)
Some classical: Kai Engel - Global Warming - Official Music
Some Jazz: Secede

I think if it sounds good and has good lyrics then its good music.

But I especially like the origins of music like blues, mountain music such as north American the folk music such as bluegrass, gospel, old time music, jug bands, Appalachian folk, blues and Cajun. As well as Irish folk, really any folk and even into the early merge of country music like Gram Parsons. But not too country like say Dolly Parton. Though I do love her voice.

Also I like the fusion of Indian music that some Irish folk groups like Mumford and sons have done. Basically I like the traditional instruments and music from indigenous to early blues and into rock. But I don't like grunge or heavy metal. Thats where it loses me.

I appreciate bands like Narvana and I especially like when Cobain does old bl;ues songs like 'Where did you sleep last night'. But not too heavy rock. Led Zep or about the best heavy rock band I think. I don't mind Gretta Van Fleet who are a modern version.

I like the modern versions of the old timemusic as well. It is sometimes fused with a modern twist which is great. My favorit band/singer is the Kelly Family who are 9 siblings who all play instruments and harmonise. I like groups who can harmonise their voices as this is like indigenous peoples who sangas a group with little instruments.

Pretty much the same here, except I listen to a lot of music without lyrics.
Genres on my car radio presets are:
Blues,
Current Jazz and Jazz Standards (3 stations)
Latin, mostly Mexican (3 stations)
Blue Grass
Parrott Head
I got hooked on Bossa Nova and Samba last year, which I stream on YouTube
