The oldest hymn still in use is the Phos Hilaron (O Gladsome Light). We sing it at Vespers. It is one of my favorites.
Of course, we sing it in English at my parish.

I also adore the Trisagion.

How Great Thou Art
Amazing Grace
and nothing can get me up and shouting like OH HAPPY DAY---Esp. when sung by the Edwin Hawkins singers---I couldn't think of a better song for the winning race on the movie Secretariat --

I heard that song by a black gospel singer once that made my heart skip at least 2 beats and my toes curl!! Can't remember who it was.

Hello Farouk!

Indeed, good lyrics, message very clear,
and I think they are good. It is not the music styles I prefer, I am more interested in Celtic, medieval music, buuut, I am interested in a lot of styles, so I enjoy listening to it-
:)) I am making myself some music, if you listen some you will understand why I said that)

Styles are more subjective, but it's the lyrics that really count, right? Those lyrics are really good! :)

Radical by Disciple's style is really good, rigorous, effective and raw hard rock; a style that some ppl really respond to and can't get enough of, I guess. You may not like it so much, but I reckon if you listened to it over and over, it would grow on you and you would really not only get used to it but want more of it. Whether you want to try listening to it more, is up to you, of course.

farouk: yes, they are good group !
Brinny: Ha! this is awesome, such a beautiful song :)
PS: Amy Perle: I re-read your earlier post and I see you did say:
...buuut, I am interested in a lot of styles, so I enjoy listening to it-

I see you did enjoy listening to it; I think you would maybe quite easily learn to enjoy the hard rock style: for some ppl, the elemental strength and authentic rawness of the style is such that it starts to define their taste in music.

But the lyrics in the end are more important; the style is more of a conveyor of the lyrics.
