  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I would have to say mine is a "gaited" mule, such as a Tennesse Walking Mule. I trust mules more than horses, after having 2 bad experiences with runaway horses. I have always read that unlike being advised to try to dismount from a runaway horse, that if you can hang on to the mule you may rest assured that you will be safe, because #1 with a mule is self-preservation.It will not run through a barb-wire fence or over a cliff! Neither will it founder itself by over-eating or drinking. I went to an amazing western competition Donkey & Mule show. I was not impressed with the Donkeys which were stubborn, and did not want to do anything in reverse direction such as would weave through poles going North, but would not turn around and come back! The mules seemed to enjoy what they were doing and were obedient.I have yet to be fortunate to get my gaited mule, but I know that I have no intention of ever getting a bone-jarring mount when I have the option of a "cadillac ride". LOL

I have shown Western and English my whole life and therefore appreciate the versatility of the Quarterhorse. I have a particular attraction to Paints because of their contrasting colour. I have a 25yr old Pinto and a 12yr old Appaloosa of my own and I love them dearly. I am not surprised about your comments about mules. I have heard wonderful things about them and from what I've witnessed myself, I couldn't agree with you more. Horses are flighty prey animals and tend to react to a situation that is unfamilliar or scary to them by running away. No matter what you do you'll never overwrite this instinct but training can help by improving horse and rider trust, communication and control. But when the horses are on their own...well, that's why I pray for them!:prayer:

My favorite horse to look at would be the Draft horse they used in
Ladyhawke.
Goliath, the solid black stallion with long eligant mane. The silver tack
was the perfect touch.
It doesn't look to comfortable to ride them though, looks like you could throw
a mattress on their back and lay out while riding.

The horse in Ladyhawke is a Friesian. My cousin breeds them. ;)
Actually they are amazing to ride! Smooth gaits, awsome transitions. They make one of the best Dressage horses..imo anyway! :D
My other fav would be the Warlander, a friesian/andalusian cross.
Speaking of horses, time for work!

Peace for now...

I prefer gaited horses as well...I was riding Peruvaian Pasos for awhile...however, I like the more athletic/energetic breeds as well, for jumping and showing....

A beautiful breed,as are so many the poster's have mentioned, but I prefer a smooth ride. Too old to tolerate anything else. BTW there are Paso mules as well,LOL!:)

Spots! I prefer Appy's, but would love to own a Dutch Warmblood someday also. Appys...their color, endurance and attitude are incredible. Lacey (my Appy) is my pride and joy. I trained her myself, and hope to start competing in dressage this coming spring. First gotta get myself trained though...and I finally found a trainer that I'm going to take dressage and stadium jump lessons from. I'm SO excited about that!
