I'm buying several books for my kids this Christmas (several Max Lucado books, The Littlest Angel, and a few others). I just wondered if you guys have any favorites that you and your kids read together...or any that were your favorites as a child when your parents would read to you?

My kids love any and everything.

When I was little I loved Tinker and Tanker Stories (anyone remember them?). Also Richard Scarrey stories, Huckle Cat and Lowly Worm (remember the ones that had the little hidden GoldBug on every page?) I loved Dr. Suess (so do my girls). Also, Where the Wild Things Are (I should have gotten that one for my girls...maybe I will:)).

Love, Heather

My oldest child (7) is reading the Little House on the Prarie books. He also loves "The Littles" and the books written by Edward Eager. He loves the Boxcar Children books too. And there are also a number of books he enjoys having us read to him -- including the Narnia books, the Indian in the Cuboard books, My Side of the Mountain series, EB White's books, and even though it isn't written for children he enjoys hearing Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy read aloud.

My little one loves Henry and Mudge books (I love them too), Frog and Toad, Little Bear, Dr. Suess, Blueberries for Sal, and anything about Clifford! LOL.

My son has an old Goldbug book which he loves. He gets very excited when I point out the little bug, he doesn't really understand how to find it just yet, almost though.

I am not a fan of Golden books, my son is but that is what matters.

My son got a children's Bible for his birthday, and loves it when we read that to him.

He also likes anything with Sesame street characters and Bear in the Big Blue house.

My daughter loves books with animals in them. I point to the animal she knows and ask what does the cow say..Then I will point to an unkown animal and tell her what sound it makes..It's fun because not only does she learn, but we get some quality time together...She loves books..Green Eggs and Ham Sam I am!:)

Also since "sissy" has come along she has a new interest in books with babies. It is so cool watching them learn, and being part of that.

Sorry, but I love children's books and I had to comment.

I also loved the Richard Scarrey books. I still have my copy of Cars and Trucks and Things that Go which I had as a child. Goldbug was so much fun to find.

Something else that was very precious to me: My aunt pretty much raised me as a child and she would read books to me and tape record herself reading them so I could listen to the story later. She did this for The Secret Garden and Charlotte's Web. I still have the paperback copies of those books as well. Now that she's not around, I still have those tapes and memories.

Another good one is Sometimes I Feel Silly and Other Moods that Make My Day by Jamie Lee Curtis. VERY cute! She has another children's book too, but I haven't read that one.

The Max Lucado ones are good. I especially like You Are Special.

And my best friend has just signed a contract to get her first children's book published. It should be out sometime next year, but it's really cute...written in rhyme and teaches positive self-esteem and dealing with bullying. She has a website where you can sign up for her newsletter. If anyone's interested in learning more, PM me and I will give you the link (I'm not sure what the rules are about posting links here).

I love Robert Munsch's books! "The Paperbag Princess" is my absolute favourite, but I also love "Stephanie's Ponytail" and "Mortimer". "Love You Forever" is also a really sweet one.
what about Roald Dahl? I wasn't a big fan when I was little, but I recently read "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and loved it! Currently reading "Matilda". (yes I know I'm 24, but I can't help it, I love kids books :))
