fate or not?

I've heard many different points of views from Christians on the topic of "soul mates". Some believe that God has a perfect man/woman in store for us, and some believe that is not true (there are many many Christians who never find "the one")

What are some opinions on this? just curious!

Here's a similiar thread we did a couple weeks ago. It has some excellent points in it.

Personally, I believe there are several potential mates out there for each of us.

I hope so. I pray every night that there is a girl out there somewhere for me, wanting me as badly as I want her. Yet to come around, though.

I'm not sure, but I doubt it. I think God has more trust in our judgment than to just assign us a spouse, and I think that He even leaves it up to us whether or not to marry at all.

If we were assigned a soulmate then decided to never marry for the sake of serving the Lord more fully, that would leave our soulmate in the lurch, wouldn't it? By exercising our freewill to stay single, we would be harming the very person God wanted us to bless. Yet we know God values the decision to stay single (Jesus said that some people never marry, for the sake of the Lord).

Then there's the problem of people who die single. That person's soulmate would be out of luck.

So, I've come to the conclusion that although it's possible to find someone who you really "click" with, there is really no such thing as a soulmate.

I think you have to pick someone you love and make marriage work.

I could not find an option in the poll I agreed with.

I do not think there is just one person for you out there. But I do think that there are a limited number of people you would be equally yoked with, and God may show you one or more of them.

i agree with littleman and dave... i believe that there are many people out in the world that can be a possible "soul mate" but, life is not about marrage so why worry? you either will or wont find the ideal person.

I don't care and if she exist I hope I never find her. I've got to many other things I want to do with life, marrage seems to get people stuck in one place.

i'm actually not worried, I'm interested in the idea of "fate" and other's experiences because I've known people who have had amazing stories in meeting their partner. Stories that seem impossible, but made me realize for them it was planned.

So whether or not there are soul mates.....how do you know when someone is "the one?" I guess the big question is, how do you know it's really love?

honestly i could care less anymore about choosing the right guy im gonna go out and date and have fun and if hes not the right guy oh well at last i know im not home alone wasting my time wondering when the right one will come along if it happens it happens if it doesnt oh well im done worrying about it cause all it does is stress me out i find when i dont worry and have fun im much more relaxed and thats whats its all about all about not sweating the small stuff so im taking that advice and moving on and just living life....who needs love anyways. well i need love but i meant oh nevermind. LOL

Maybe. Maybe there is a soul mate out there for everyone but I think 'attraction' is often misunderstood as soul mate material.

Well, yes. Especially sexual attraction.

I have heard a lot of celebraties say they have met their soulmate, then in a few weeks/months/years, they dump that person and move on to their next "soulmate." What they really mean is, "the sex is really good."
