Dear DATAPACRAT. God is Love, and we may be sure that God makes provision for all to have heard. I say this with love. Greetings from Emmy, sister in Christ.

Greetings, Emmy.

I'd like to understand what you mean by 'making provision'. Could you offer some more specifics of what you think those provisions would involve, such as for the three groups I identified in my initial post in this thread?

Hello, all; this is my first 'serious' post in this forum, so if I err, please let me know.

There is a particular aspect of Christian theology that I haven't been able to get any clear, definitive answers on from those I've asked before. It may be that there /is/ no widely-accepted answer, but I'm hoping that I might at least get a better idea of the range of opinions here.

Here are a few scenarios that I think illustrate the idea:

1. There were a large number of people born in BC, many very far away from where God made Himself known to Abraham. What fate do you think such people have in the afterlife?

Judaism is not a now proselytizing/evangelizing religion and never has been in the past. That is, Judaism has never held that all people must be Jewish and does not seek converts (Jews as individuals sometimes seek converts but they do so of their own accord. There is no mitzvot(commandment) to seek converts).

There are only seven requirements for nonJewish people to have a part in the world to come. They are the Noahide laws and are as follows:
  1. Do not commit Idolatry
  2. Do not commit Murder
  3. Do not commit Theft
  4. Do not commit Sexual immorality
  5. Do not commit Blasphemy
  6. Do not eat flesh taken from an animal while it is still alive
  7. Establish courts of law
In the Book of Ruth, Naomi encouraged Ruth to return to her own people. Also, in the book of Jonah, Jonah mission was to tell the Ninevites to repent of their idolatry. That was it. They were not required to practice the 613 mitzvot of Judaism.

Also, the book of Job is believed to be the oldest book in the Bible, which means that his life probably predates the giving of the law at Sinai. There is no indication at all that Job had any contact with Abraham or his descendent. Yet Job is described as being a righteous man before G-d.
