  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

snack on veggies, a lot. I never got myself to do that, when I'm trying to lose weight I have only 1-2 meals a day, and small ones. Basically I barely eat. eat daily vitamins and fiber. My guess is that hunger comes from needing calories first and foremost, but also for nutrients, so if you eat vitamins it will curb a lot of hunger that comes from the need for nutrients. And fiber just makes you feel full. Also, if you're really good, drink a lot of water.

HI there,

JUst because i saw the words- muslim parents ....i am an ex muslim too so hi once again.......it feels good to see there are others out there too....i have done fasting in many different ways- it is not like in islam- maybe you can skip a meal-basically itmeans you spend your time with God and the scriptures-some people fast for a whole day-but they drink fluids or water- God is not looking at what you are not eating or drinking but at your heart......so do or skip what you can .....and spend the whole fasting time in prayer and worship

One of the purposes according to book of Isaiah of a fast is "to give your bread to the hungry". Every time I fast I give the money from the food that I did not eat to the poor. i.e. if I would have spent $5 on food for a meal I give that $5 to the poor.

I never did fasting the Christian way only how my Muslim parents would. Can I get tips in what to eat and not and maybe other tips?

Have you fasted since posting your question? If so, I'm curious to know how it went.

I'm deliberating fasting and am trying to do research on whether it will be beneficial or harmful. I'm underweight with a BMI of 16.1, but I've heard that any weight you lose is immediately regained. I'm wonder if that's been true for anyone who has fasted?
