I have often been curious about this question and have never really found a satisfactory answer to it........

I mean, does fasting have to be totally going without food and only drinking water??

Or can fasting consist of going without food, but drinking any beverage that one wishes to drink??

Can fasting be the act of obstaining from some foods while still continuing to eat other foods??

Is it merely up to the individual and simply a matter of how he or she wishes to fast??

Or are there set "rules" to fasting that everyone is expected to abide by, should they choose to fast??

As with most things, one can take too "hard" a line; or form too "loose" an interpretation.

To me fasting = going without food, including "liquids" which nourish the body.

Although, I've allowed myself a little squirt of a lemon, or a pinch of Vit. C crystals in one or two of the multiple glasses of water drunk daily, to avoid gum disease. ( Vit. C cannot be stored well, in our bodies, while most other things are stored sufficiently.)

I'd say it is up to us how/if we fast, but the greatest benefits will occur in us who do so in a way which fits well with, properly perceived Bible Teachings.

May The Lord Be Magnified !
