  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Considering thats its communion - I would think it would be appropriate. However, you have to go with your gut. I would probably say to you what I just said, but if it were me I may not just out of an uncertainty.

I think tho - you are not eating the bread for personal pleasure or enjoyment and certainly NOT to fill an empty growling stomach, but in honor of Christ as he instructed us to do. So I would think that God would honor your heart in this matter.

I asked this in the fasting forum with no replies so thought I would ask here.

If you are on a full fast, or liquids only fast , would you take communion?
That depends on the reason behind the question. If you mean will it break your fast? It could slow it down by making you hungry again after losing the hunger, but it's such a small amt. that it shouldn't even do that.

I agree with those who have said yes, and I give my own emphatic YES! And I second the notion about the cracker (or whatever form the bread is in) tasting SOOOO good. Taking communion will strengthen you, but it's not a physical strengthening. By that I mean that it's not nourishing your flesh through giving you nutrition. If you're fasting, or going to fast, I would recommend taking communion every day.

Blessings of fasting

14Then came to him the disciples of John, saying,
Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?
15And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bride chamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.
- Matthew 9:14-15

1. Victory in battle
And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.
- 2 Chronicles 20:3,4

2. Salvation from destruction
Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.
- Esther 4:16

3. Power in ministry
Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
- Matthew 17:21
