  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

They've clearly already messed with the story line, as Dr. Doom never went into space with the F4.
This is actually borrowing from Ultimate Fantastic Four, part of Marvel's successful Ultimate line (re-launched versions of classic characters in modern times).

I have low expectations for this film. If anyone wants to know what a true Fantastic Four film *should* look/feel/be like, see The Incredibles. *That* film was everything this film *should* be, but probably won't be.

Having said that, I thought the trailer was actually decent. Better than I expected. There may be hope after all.

Based on the Ultimates? Why,why, why base it on such utter ****.
  What do you mean? UFF was a great reworking of the idea. The reimagined origin was different, but in keeping with the original. And when Warren Ellis took over ... well, the man is a spectacular sci-fi writer.

Besides, the only "element" directly borrowed from UFF is the inclusion of Doom in the accident (and maybe his subsequent "changes" ... I don't know exactly how they're doing that in the film). The rest of it doesn't seem at all derived from UFF. IIRC, in the film, Doom and Reed own competing aerospace companies, or something like that; in the UFF they're all still teenagers.

Saw the preview. Everything looks good except for some minor flaws. The actress who is playing the Invisible Woman...looks nothing like the comic inspired heroin. The Thing...looks like The Sponge. And finally, Doctor Doom doesn't look good. His costume looks too organic and skin tight. I like me a boxy docta'. :D

I may not have read the ultimate fantastic four, but any ultimate stuff I have seen has been pretty awful with how they screw up the marvel heroes. Captain America dating a married woman, what moron came up with that idea. I would like to take a few cartons of OC spray to those people.
