I finally got a chance to go and see it yesterday. I was actually inpressed with the direction that they took with the film. more a focus on comming to grips with their new abilities and learning to work, and interact, with each other instead of trying to fit in a large number of superfights.
I'm thinking about taking my neice and nephew to see it later this week. Afterwards I'll talk with them about how, like the way the Thing was treated, you need to look past the surface in order to really understand someone.
And, how both Doom and Johnny see their abilities as gifts. Except Johnny at least understands that they might have been given by a higher power and Doom sees them as a way to incress his own power.
Films like this give parents a chance to talk to with their children about responsibility, the discovery of talents and skills, and how to use them not only for themselves, but for the assisting of other people.
