  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There has been something that has been bothering me for a long time or should I say I've been thinking about... Do you guys find yourself talking about God all the time? I mean every topic that you guys talk about is it about God? I work with this lady who is constantly talking about the lord, we talk about different things, things that are going on in the world. Just discussing the everyday event and she is always saying its not the people doing it - these are demons jumping into people. I mean I don't mean to judge , Im just making an observation.....Please God forgive me If im wrong for doing this... but can she be fanatic to the religion? The reason to my questions is because she got divorced due to her husband cheating on her, she went out with this other guy who she says is in love with her and vice versa, but she tell us we shouldn't trust any man and she will use protection with him even when she is marry to him.... she says, he doesn't got to church and I guess she is trying to find someone like her. I told her maybe if he sees her going he will follow. I mean from what she tells us he is a good man. Then she says I will do whatever God tell me to do- even if it means me being alone.

A couple of yrs ago my sister in law went crazy she started saying she was a profet, she was making 100k a year, she lost her job, gave away everything, she said, God told her to do these things. Not too long ago the same thing happen to my cousin. I think there is nothing wrong to speaking to God and speaking to God to others, but I think there is a thin line between being religious and being fanatic to the point that someone can go crazy. Till this day my sister in law is not right... I mean I truly believe that was not God speaking to her... I think God can ask us to give him everything, but he is not going to want us struggling, I think if we are obedient to him he will compesate us.... any advise or input?

Hi there!

The part where you write that she says:

it's not the people doing it, these are demons jumping into people

- that is not fanaticism; that is what she believes occurs and is not truth as relates to why all people do bad stuff.

So, it's an understanding she has on that topic which is not biblical in that area. It is where she is right now in her understanding of such.

As regards talking about God.. if I talk with a believer and we are on the topic of God, we just talk about God, but we can also talk about other things as well.

She may think you enjoy talking about God all the time, or she may just talk about God all the time.

If you don't like talking about God all the time with her, perhaps you can let her know somehow. Some people just don't realize that the other person doesn't want to discuss the same topic all the time or perhaps at all.

She may not be aware or she may be and not matter to her.

I can't really speak to what happened with your sister in law or cousin as of course can not know someone's heart and all, but in the end you wrote:

I think if we are obedient to him he will compesate us.

The things we receive from God for obedience are spiritual blessings, or feeling good for doing good and right; or joy knowing a good thing occurred to someone, and many other things as regards spiritual blessings, and regardless if we are obedient or disobedient, or a non believer we can be poor or rich or somewhere in between.

Most to all people struggle and clearly from the bible many who walked with God struggled greatly, were killed, or faced famine, hunger, naked, etc., and same today for all humans;

God says we will suffer, we will struggle, and in the faith chapter in Hebrews those people did not receive the things promised and they were obedient to God.

In the end though, whenever that will be, Gods will will be done on earth as is in heaven and we so look forward to that.

blessings..

As for that first lady, she sounds unstable. Maybe she's from an overly charismatic background. Demons exist, but they're not everywhere and people sin enough on their own. And she's constantly talking about God, yet she's going to "use protection" until she marries again? That makes about as much sense as a rabbi chowing down on bacon. I would gently remind her to line up her actions with her talk.

Yeah, that's what shocked me...if she were saying she were going to use protection once she got married...that'd be one thing. But before she got married? That just doesn't line up.

And yes, some bad things are of demons, but not ALL bad things...not everyone is possessed by demons, some people just do bad things on their own.

I don't know what to do regarding her. Pray to God, ask Him to give you the right way to deal with her.

No, I talk about all sorts of things. I wouldn't say people who only speak of God are fanatics. I think of fanatics as a bit unstable. The first woman doesn't sound unstable to me, just very charismatic (sp?) and some Christians seem to include the devil or demons in almost everything. I'm sorry to hear about your sister in law, hopefully everything goes okay for her.
