Parenting is rough sometimes.

Got this basic idea from Focus on the Family.

We set a time for family meetings with no TVs, phones, games, visitors, etc .Also, therre were no interruputations to switch the clothes to the drier or turn on the dishwasher. To encourage a relaxed tone,, we decided to sit on the floor and all dressed in pj's. There was more eye contact than usual This wasn't the only time we complimented and encouraged the kids but it helped Any family member could bring up any topic. If a decision was needed, my husband and I had agreed on things beforehand or signaled when we thought we needed to discuss before giving a decision.

Found that sometimes the kids would asks for family meetings.

Not that we didn't have issues. But wish we had started when they were pre-teens or even earlier.

Hope this helps someone.
