All the books tend to refer to it as Braxton Hicks, but I like false labor, raises false hopes, keeps you up at night but still doesn't get you a baby to hold. FALSE ugh.

In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How far along are you?
When I had "false labors" the doctor and the hospital staff all referred to it as "prelabor." I liked that, because it's a bit more encouraging. It's accomplishing something to get you ready for labor, at least.

i've been having braxton hicks since i was at least seven months pregnant. and they can get pretty painful, sometimes, too, even though i still have two months to go. so, in my case, i'm not too fond of the term "prelabor" b/c she's not healthy enough to come out yet!

The word "prelabor" was perfect for my last pregnancy. I started having false labor from three or four weeks before my due date, till he was born a week late. I mean, the labors were hard, consistent, and very frequent! Imagine once a week having hard contractions five minutes apart for hours.
I really hope this one goes easier!

K so if it safe to have the baby it is prelabor, if not BH

The Braxton Hicks ctx are doing the important job of getting your baby into a perfect position, and every contraction that you have now means one less ctx to have later!
