Well I can't argue on that. My choice of word would be asinine. Property destruction & assault for what is merely just a reinterpretation of law are unjustifiable. People who engage in these forms of protest are beyond infantile. Nothing was gain and much was lost.

I don't see the relevance of this though. We were talking about marriage and poverty within a marriage. I got married and that did not fix any poverty issues, and in fact, the money issues caused the divorce. Its irrational to me to say that marriage fixes poverty.

Personal experience is yours. And like everything we all experience life differently.

And we also know that our own experience is not necessarily the truth for all. We KNOW for a fact that marriage fixes poverty for the vast majority of people. Not 100% but almost all.

Just as we know for a fact that your experience does not apply the the vast majority of people.

That's all that this is about. Looking at the statistics and the odds. Even one wants to get out of poverty the only way out is to earn more money. And you can earn more money by getting a better job or getting married which provides pathways to more money. Obviously those aren't the only ways but for most it's true.

My parents have the same issues (in the distant past when it mattered more than today when things are just hard!). My mother was (and is today) born-again and straight with Jesus. My dad on the other hand was wayward and would spend his money on vice (I don't want to go into further details than that).
He would also give allot of his money to his family who took advantage of him. Fast forward today, I live in a poor set-up despite my folks being happily married (ie as they are now in their elder years compared to before).

So, I'd go on to say unless both married partners are born-again Christians and are fiscally responsible and are both in one accord believing God for a break-through, then I would agree.

I also have a cousin who is married to a Filipina woman and he's in trouble in that set-up. I know they are barely keeping their head above water and have two children to support. He saying that he would leave her if it weren't for the two children. I'm not sure if he's better off or worst off than his single brother who lives by himself and is on social assistance (as am I).

For any good marriage both spouses have to agree together to make it work. If one pulls the wrong way and over powers the other spouse than it doesn't work.

Making abortion "illegal" won't stop it. It was happening prior to Roe V. Wade and will continue to happen now. The only difference is that more women will die now.
