  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When man committed his first sin, he was immediately banished from paradise, namely the Garden of Eden. However, whatever happened to the other animals in the garden? Were they banished as well?

They were never banished from the garden per se, they were cut off from the tree of life. The animals were probably not effected directly or immediately but the chief stewards of the world were now cursed. The Garden of Eden was probably just domesticated plants, the animals are only mentioned with regards to Adam's naming of them.

The thing is that the Scriptures are silent on that issue, if it was ever an issue to begin with.

granpa's post reflects the view of hundreds of millions of Christians as well as many clergy, in that the "Garden of Eden" was not a physical place, but rather is figurative language for a way to exist. That being the state of nature, of animals, that live without forethought or moral choices.

So of course all (non-human) animals are still in the garden.

Seeing the garden of eden as a physical place immediately leads to questions like "where is it today"? Do I get there by taking a left turn at Albuquerque? I can't wait to see that flying, flaming sword! I wonder why that flying sword is never mentioned in the history of (wherever the garden of Eden is)?

After all, scripture never says the garden was paved over to make a wall-mart parking lot or such. So it still exists- as it always has, as the state of nature.

The animals in the Garden live there still -it's God's Garden, it is called Paradise, and it is in Eden, which is not on the earth, but is a mountain [also called Mount Zion and Mount Eden, above] in the heavenly realm of this earth.
Enoch saw it and described the birds and trees and smells, esp, and dwells there, in the City of God, since His translation to the body of glory.
The Book of Enoch, Translated by Robert H. Charles, 1912
Enoch Receives the Geocentric Calendar Book
33 And from thence I went to the ends of the earth and saw there great beasts, and each differed from the other; and I saw birds also differing in appearance and beauty and voice, the one differing from the other. And to the east of those beasts I saw the ends of the earth whereon the heaven rests, and the portals of the heaven open.
Enoch 24
The Mountain of the Lord of Glory
24 And from thence I went to another place of the earth, and he showed me a mountain range of fire which burnt day and night. 2And I went beyond it and saw seven magnificent mountains all differing each from the other, and the stones thereof were magnificent and beautiful, magnificent as a whole, of glorious appearance and fair exterior: three towards the east, one founded on the other, and three towards the south, one upon the other, and deep rough ravines, no one of which joined with any other. 3And the seventh mountain was in the midst of these, and it excelled them in height, resembling the seat of a throne: and fragrant trees encircled the throne. 4And amongst them was a tree such as I had never yet smelt, neither was any amongst them nor were others like it: it had a fragrance beyond all fragrance, and its leaves and blooms and wood wither not for ever: and its fruit is beautiful, and its fruit resembles the dates of a palm. 5Then I said: "How beautiful is this tree, and fragrant, and its leaves are fair, and its blooms very delightful in appearance."
6Then answered Michael, one of the holy and honoured angels who was with me, and was their leader. http://www.summascriptura.com/html/Enoch_1_RHC.htm#top
25 And he said unto me: "Enoch, why dost thou ask me regarding the fragrance of the tree, and why dost thou wish to learn the truth?"
2Then I answered him saying: "I wish to know about everything, but especially about this tree."

The Tree of Life
3And he answered saying: "This high mountain which thou hast seen, whose summit is like the throne of God, is His throne, where the Holy Great One, the Lord of Glory, the Eternal King, will sit, when He shall come down to visit the earth with goodness. 4And as for this fragrant tree no mortal is permitted to touch it till the great judgement, when He shall take vengeance on all and bring everything to its consummation for ever. 5It shall then be given to the righteous and holy. Its fruit shall be for food to the elect: it shall be transplanted to the holy place, to the temple of the Lord, the Eternal King.
6"Then shall they rejoice with joy and be glad,
And into the holy place shall they enter;
And its fragrance shall be in their bones,
And they shall live a long life on earth,
Such as thy fathers lived:
And in their days shall no sorrow or plague
Or torment or calamity touch them."
7Then blessed I the God of Glory, the Eternal King, who hath prepared such things for the righteous, and hath created them and promised to give to them.
The Holy Watcher angels dwell there.
It is also where the City of God is that we are pilgrims on the journey to, and citizens of, since becoming born again in Christ.
Enoch 32
The Garden of Righteousness
32 And after these fragrant odours, as I looked towards the north over the mountains I saw seven mountains full of choice nard and fragrant trees and cinnamon and pepper. 2And thence I went over the summits of all these mountains, far towards the east of the earth, and passed above the Erythraean sea and went far from it, and passed over the angel Zotiel. 3And I came to the Garden of Righteousness, and saw beyond those trees many large trees growing there and of goodly fragrance, large, very beautiful and glorious, and the tree of wisdom whereof they eat and know great wisdom. 4That tree is in height like the fir, and its leaves are like those of the Carob tree: and its fruit is like the clusters of the vine, very beautiful: and the fragrance of the tree penetrates afar.
5Then I said: "How beautiful is the tree, and how attractive is its look!"
6Then Raphael the holy angel, who was with me, answered me and said: "This is the tree of wisdom, of which thy father old in years and thy aged mother, who were before thee, have eaten, and they learnt wisdom and their eyes were opened, and they knew that they were naked and they were driven out of the garden."
