Does anyone else here fake happiness and contentment? You see these little humorous posts.. they don't really come from any genuine emotion do they? A lot of this love and friendship is faked too right?

Not so much fake happiness. If I'm annoyed by or unhappy with someone I'll act nice to them anyway instead of expressing what I truely feel. I do this for the sake of charity and keeping the peace.

Yeah. I do it. Its something I really should cut out and accept being myself what ever mood I'm in. I don't feel comfortable being depressed round other people as it feels like I'm being a burden on them.

I don't really fake happiness. If I'm happy then I act happy, if not then I don't. Although honestly, I probably seem much more cheerful online than I am in real life (but I do want to improve that).

I like keeping my emotions in check, so I rarely post or show emotion in my posts when I'm feeling upset / frustrated over something. I don't think I fake happiness or contentment, however. Sometimes I am genuinely unhappy, but fellowshipping with my friends pulls me out of that.

Its well known the happiest people are the best at faking it when unhappy emotions arise. There is a certain amount of putting on the emotion you want to feel until it becomes authentic. So it does seem that is the key. People who consider themselves realists are the most miserable people in the world, and perhaps this is because they are living the closest to reality, the closest to how things are, how the world really is. You can choose to be happy or you can choose to live in this world, but you can't do both. All I know is a person who is faking he is happy is more productive than one dwelling in misery.

It is true that the "happiest" and most well-adjusted, are "real" and see things for what they are with much clarity, and therefore have insight and most likely wisdom, and can see the "bigger picture", so to speak.

What you describe is "pretending" (pretense) and un-authentic.

It's more "productive" to just be oneself spontaneously...

and that means that if ya' slip up and do this ---->

Well, ya' just apologize.

Life goes on.

It is what it is.

What I'm describing is feeling what you want to feel.

Like in feeling happy even when you don't.

There's no such thing.

That's pretending.

Even with a smile plastered on yer face, inside there ain't no "happiness".

Just lonely emptiness.

I actually agree with that.

And, I'm happy about it.
