Fake autism, ADHD, Aspergers, etc. Blame the parents or the doc?

I have a couple of opinions. I agree with you, and I'm glad PC culture didn't scare you from saying what you honestly think.

I think that "spare the rod, spoil the child" comes into play here. It is virtually impossible to spank a child in public. The only actual discipline happens at home. Boys, in particular, are always being given these fake diagnosis disorders.

I live in a very liberal area . And I see parents spank their kids all the time. I think you just try to make excuses. Most kids I see with Autism and other disorders have them. Yes mothers can be sick in the head and can invent sickness. Or can be sick in the head and lie about the lack of spanking BS. . But most kids with disorders are true. And your denial doesn't help.

I believe they are real disorders, however, maybe some fall into a "catch-all" category such as adhd. Honestly, there are so many issues arising today that are legit, I believe the culprit is a combination of things including all the crap they are putting into processed foods.

Looking back it seems she was just making a general statement and it wasn't directed at you and now you're attacking with comments like "There is no such thing as a Liberal Christian. Oxymoron." If it were the case where she was attacking, two wrongs don't make a right.

Read it again. She specifically attacked people with my view and said they are "sick in the head". There is no such thing as a Liberal Christian. They are children of the lie. Their father is Satan. This is obvious. Oxymoron is not name-calling. It means that there is an impossible juxtaposition.

My point is, you're doing exactly what you're accusing her of...you're attacking now. Whether or not I agree with that statement or whether or not it is "obvious" isn't relevant to this conversation. Let's keep the attacks out of it and keep it a civil conversation. Do all things in love...

I don't think God wants me to turn the cheek in every case. He wants boldness. If I am attacked, I'll respond. I don't like it. There is a way to have a differing opinion without attacking. The woman above her responded with a different opinion, and she didn't say anything personally disrespectful such as "I'm making excuses". Excuses for what? I've divulged very little information about myself. I have zero to make excuses for. And this is the internet. All the companies are owned by Liberals. The fact that this forum was even allowed to show up on the Google search engine is questionable, given their history.

Two wrongs don't make a right. You are also a witness to everyone reading and we are to respond in love...even if you feel attacked, you can respond in love. Jesus never responded to an attack with a personal attack. I just think we have to be careful about how we read on the internet...it can be hard to decipher.

Just a reminder that saying that other Christian members are not Christians (including groups of members, such as liberals), is considered flaming under CF's rules.

More on topic, I have a child with autism. Diagnosis included assessments by a paediatrician, speech therapist, and child psychologist. It also included tests to rule out other types of problems (such as hearing loss or chromosomal abnormalities). If it does somehow turn out, later, that she's been misdiagnosed, it won't be because there was nothing there to be concerned about, but because the diagnostic tools used couldn't differentiate between autism and whatever other thing might present like autism in little girls.

I don't know that you can "blame" anyone for that. It'd be a case of a group of people - parents, medical specialists and allied health specialists - doing the best they can to identify the particular problem a person is struggling with, and put the best possible interventions and supports in place. As our knowledge and understanding grows, no doubt we'll be able to do that with ever more sophistication.

What I do notice is that historically - even as little as ten or so years ago - it was not uncommon for children to go undiagnosed for years while their parents noted symptoms and sought help. I think it is a good thing that the importance of early diagnosis and early intervention is being recognised and addressed.
