• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am really having a rough time. When I pray to Jesus, the way I understand the Gospel is that he associated himself with the lost and sick, lame and mute and deaf and blind, the sinful outcasts of society. So I go to him in prayer, since I am one of those, but I'm not making the connection. I'm wanting to be as cooperative as possible. I've been greatly humbled by this whole ordeal. I feel as though I'm trying to reach God without an intercessor, which is impossible to reach then, because God this way is unapproachable. One of the purposes Jesus came is to be our access to God.

I can't stand this broken fellowship with Jesus, if that is what it is. It could be I need help with my unbelief, or something. Please help

It seem like you are placing a lot of emphasis on what you are doing to reach God when He is the one who came down for us. Yes, Jesus is our intessor but we also have direct access to come boldly to the throne of God. God is not inaccessable. On the contrary, He knows what you need even before you ask. Don't make prayer more complicated than it is. Simply talk to God the way you would talk to your best friend. Tell Him anything and everything you want. Don't expect to feel any special feeling. If you do, fine, but it's not necessary. Let it be enough that you KNOW God heard you. You are also on some pretty heavy drugs which can and do affect your feelings and emotions so you will naturally have a more difficult time with this. If you feel the meds are working for you and you feel clear headed and in touch than fine. If not, talk to your doctor about it. A few adjustments can make all the difference in the world. I know, my husband has bipolar disorder, ADHD and OCD. The wrong cocktail of drugs can be worse than no meds at all.

Faith is believing in the unseen. God says He hears our prayers. Believe that. You don't need to feel any special feeling, just pray in faith. Christ intercedes for us before the Father. Pray, and ask God to show Himself to you in your daily life. Then at the end of each day, make a Gratitude List and thank God for each blessing that day. I have done that, and it has made a huge difference in lightening my depressions.

I've recently discovered that there are bipolar support groups at my hospital that there is no charge for. I haven't been to one yet, but they're outpatient - like an AA meeting or something I guess. Maybe in your town? Call a hospital, check the paper, call a crisis center, check the library reference desk - there may be one near you!

Thank you.
