Faded Friendship

I wrote this poem recently when I reached a difficult place with someone that I was once good friends with... and the fragility of trust was broken....

So many years have passed me by
And I know sometimes
I’ve just got to realize
Things come and go

Not all things stay a while
And we could walk a hundred miles
Face the hardships and trials
Then our paths split in two

Even though we didn’t last
And our friendship is a thing of the past
Those years flew by so fast
I still have cherished memories

So I wave a sad goodbye
I know it hurts and still I cry
But at least I know I tried
Remember, I’ll always love you
