Because it is being subject to widespread study and scrutiny, including by adherents of three worldwide faiths for which the Genesis stories are foundational. Because of those who study it, many use it in its applied form with success.I'm honestly confused. Why on Earth would you think that just because something is widely taught that makes it a fact?
Because it's just a simple non sequitur - something is taught, therefore it's a fact. Please don't answer my question with another question.
Why do you not agree with the statement I made in post #155?

I have been curious about this in the past - what is the applied form of the TOE?Because it is being subject to widespread study and scrutiny, including by adherents of three worldwide faiths for which the Genesis stories are foundational. That a scientific theory is widely taught and widely used with success means that it is frequently tested in a variety of ways.Because it's just a simple non sequitur - something is taught, therefore it's a fact.
What grade level are we talking about? What is there to teach about evolution? I like the idea of teaching reading, writing and mathematics, but what is there to teach about evolution?Because, believe it or not, facts are taught. They are conditional, but facts are still facts until proven wrong.
But, since you've got a hang up on that question, let's change it: do you think that evolution should be taught, yes or no?
The creation of new vaccines and other medical applications. In agriculture and animal husbandry.I have been curious about this in the past - what is the applied form of the TOE?

At all levels where biology is taught, up through graduate school. What grade level are we talking about? What is there to teach about evolution? I like the idea of teaching reading, writing and mathematics, but what is there to teach about evolution?
Posting a video Gish gallop is not an argument. I see no reason to give a detailed response to a long series of bad claims, particularly since most of the readers of the thread watched none to little of the video. He offered exactly nothing new that I haven't seen posted here and refuted here dozens of times. An ad hom attack is not a response to argument. But it's funny you mention it - I've actually heard him admit he's arrogant.
Perhaps, he certainly was arrogant.I don't recall ever hearing that from any of the Four Horsemen. Hitchens might have been the most arrogant man on the planet.
And he (from his own description) managed to turn that experience only into a travel down the rabbit hole of bad mathematical analysis of evolution. (The "bad" part was me again, judging him harshly.) He seems to think it would be easy, but I've seen the "easy" mathematical models of evolution and they all are horribly wrong and useless. I don't think he is very scientific as he is enamored with his bad thinking.Anyway, among many other endeavors he did serve as a research assistant in the Department of Biology at Columbia University.

I plead ignorance here and relied on AI on deciphering your obscure post.Is this mouse they call Maud'dib? (asking for my friend, Usal)
Your question is vague, so I'm forced to respond with questions to clarify. Teach what exactly? Teach common descent with modification? Teach natural selection? Teach beneficial random mutations?Just answer the question as given, please: do you think that evolution should be taught, yes or no?

Someone posted it did, so I looked it up.
Well that's pretty much what I said in my post isn't it? I gave a brief answer to his question, then said that if was interested he could listen to a video to hear more. Technically not a Gish gallop. I was not in the mood to write a lengthy post containing points that no one would read, so I posted a video which no one would watch. But I felt it would be rude not to answer with something.Posting a video Gish gallop is not an argument. Feel free to elaborate if you've got the math chops. And he (from his own description) managed to turn that experience only into a travel down the rabbit hole of bad mathematical analysis of evolution. It's accepted w no problem in ChinaFair enough.
Now, just continuing with this line of though: since the theory of evolution as it currently stands is taught across the world, especially in the Western world, then the amount of evidence for it must be somewhat sufficient for many people to say that they accept the theory of evolution as a scientific fact. Do you agree with this statement?
My hands are tied by the rules of this sub-forum. I'll just say "yes", but I may get in trouble if I elaborate on how and where and when it should be taught. Sorry. No, my question is a simple yes or no question: do you think that evolution should be taught, yes or no? Take the question as I present it, and make the effort.

And I gave my assessment based on far more than just the posting. I stand by it. It's just erudite Ken Ham.Well that's pretty much what I said in my post isn't it? There was a whole book referenced earlier about the mathematical problems of these attacks on evolution. I don't have the "evolution chops" to build such a model, but I do have the modeling experience to understand why such a model would be very difficult to build. Berlinsky underestimates the issues involved when he dismisses the simple models and concludes that such models demonstrating evolution *should* exist.Feel free to elaborate if you've got the math chops.
