From angry yelling to that creepy whispering, Joe ran the gambit last night. Even calling Donald Trump his Vice President.

But let's look at fact checking some of the more creative things he said.

Joe said: “In fact, the day after Putin invaded Ukraine, here’s what he said. ‘It was genius.’ ‘It was wonderful.’ Some of you forgot that. But that’s exactly what he said.”

Reality is the DAY BEFORE Trump stated:

“You gotta say, that’s pretty savvy,” Trump said on a conservative talk radio show of Putin’s decision to declare certain breakaway regions in Ukraine as independent. “And you know what the response was from Biden? There was no response. They didn’t have one for that. No, it’s very sad. Very sad.”​

“This is genius,” Trump said. “Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine … . Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful.”​

Trump made his remarks on Feb. 23, 2022. Russian forces invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24.​

Fact check fail - number one.

Joe said: “As a consequence, working with Mexico, border encounters have gone down over 50 percent. The current level is lower today than when Trump left office.”

Reality is:

Biden’s framing is misleading. He is referring to a Department of Homeland Security estimate that the seven-day average of migrant apprehensions dropped more than 40 percent to less than 2,400 encounters per day since he issued an executive action barring asylum at the southern border. But the numbers are still higher than when Trump was president.

Fact check fail number two

Joe said: There are at least five presidents running or incumbent presidents who had lower numbers than I have now later in the campaign.”

Reality is:

Biden’s whistling past the graveyard here. According to the presidential ratings tracked by FiveThirtyEight, Biden’s approval rating, 36.8 percent, at this point in his presidency is lower than any other presidents besides George H.W. Bush (36.7 percent) and Jimmy Carter (33.9 percent). Gerald Ford had an approval rating slightly higher. All three lost.​

The statistics go back to Harry S. Truman and the advent of modern polling, so it’s unclear why Biden claimed five presidents had lower numbers.​

The Washington Post fact-checking outfit awarded President Joe Biden “Four Pinocchios” — its worst rating — for his claim that a new Georgia election-security law “ends voting hours early.”​

Biden, whose White House called the legislation “Jim Crow in the 21st Century,” has repeatedly insinuated that the law limits voting opportunities. “Among the outrageous parts of this new state law, it ends voting hours early so working people can’t cast their vote after their shift is over,” he said in a statement on Friday.​

During his first presidential press conference on Thursday, Biden said what he was “worried about is how un-American this whole initiative is,” calling it “sick” and saying that “you’re going to end voting at five o’clock when working people are just getting off work.”​
