  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just saw this movie tonight with some friends. My old roommates cousin is on staff at the church that made this movie. It was really good. Some parts were kind of cheesy, but it had a good message. It was kind of an amatur film so don't expect a huge blockbuster or anything, but it was worth going to see. Especially if you like sports. One of the football coaches from UGA has a small cameo appearance.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I've been trying to remember the name of that movie for days! *whew* I saw some interviews and trailers for it on Daystar and was really interested in it.

I'm glad people are enjoying it. It sounds like a really good movie from the bits and pieces that I've seen/heard.

It's a movie about a football team...they aren't very good (something along those lines) and the coach kind of instructs them to play for God and to glorify God with their playing and effort, and I guess it turns the team around and they become really good...and all the story and human drama that takes place within that plotline. That's kind of what I've gathered from the bits and pieces that I've seen/heard of it anyway.

Guys...I saw this movie tonight.

It is awesome !!!!

Praise God.... !

A movie where He is Glorified !

You must spend your dollars on this movie !

No, I will not spend my dollars on this movie. Glorifying God in movies is all well and good, but it does not make a movie awesome, not even good.

If christians think that all a movie needs to do is glorify God, then they've truly lost their sense of art.

I would think that truly glorifying God would inhance the art greatly.

*shrug*

Both of you have a good point. I agree with FireRock that a movie that truly glorifies God would enhance the art greatly, BUT for me to enjoy a movie, it has to have a good plot, good acting, good pacing....all the things that a secular movie needs to be enjoyable.

But if a movie glorifies God, I will be more inclined to see it.

In general, I completely disagree with your statement, but I suppose their are cases where it can be debated in some way.

Point taken.

We also have very different viewpoints and such, so arguing this would be meaningless for the most part.

I see your point and there are specific cases where I'm sure I would back it up, but as a general statement I must disagree.

Out of morbid curiosity, how in your opinion does giving glory to God enhance the art value of a film?

Is it selfish or mean to say I don't want to get into it? Maybe someday when I'm really in the mood to debate and try my case, but I just am not up for it now. I apologize, ScottyL.

JacobHall86, why do you say that? Was it just overall bad in your opinion or were there specific things that ruined the movie for you?

I just saw it last night and really enjoyed it. It was easy to tell it was not made by a major studio and the acting wasn't Hollywood caliber but it was a good movie and as well made as could be done by amateurs. The message was good and movie conveyed it very well but it's definately not for everyone.

As far as art, who cares. It's a very inspirational movie that is centered around Christian values so it certainly won't appeal to non-Christians. If you are looking purely for entertainment, you probably won't like it either as it obviously has low production values and the cinematography isn't too great. If you are a Christian and are looking for a feel-good, inspirational movie, go see it, it's great.

After my wife and I got home from the movie I was holding our son, who is a miracle for us. After 9 years of trying, 4 miscarriages and an ectopic pregnancy that had to be removed surgically, we had practically given up on ever having a child. My wife was 42 and found out she was pregnant when she went in for her annual pap. So, if you've seen the movie, you can imagine how it impacted us emotionally. I held my son up to my wife and asked her, "What is impossible with God?"

That's what I figured, that's the way it always is with "christian" movies, and that's why I have a vendetta against them.

Example: Pulp Fiction has one of the best messages I've ever seen in a movie, and it didn't sacrifice it's quality to do it and it did it without preaching.
