  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

So there is a friend of one of my Facebook contacts whose profile does not have the option to add them as a friend when their profile is viewed on a desktop computer.

However...

When that same profile is viewed in the Facebook app on my phone, or in the mobile-version of the site on my desktop, the "Add Friend" button is available.

Anyone else see something like this? If so, any insights as to why the presence/absence of the Add Friend button would change based merely upon which device one is using?

UPDATE: This might be based upon whether or not one is using Facebook's New Layout vs the old one. When viewed with the Old Layout, no option to "Add Friend" is there. But when viewed with the New Layout, it's there. Hmmm...

Sometimes buttons like the Add Friend button are expressed in a window as a percentage of screen size. I know that oftentimes buttons and tools will disappear from AutoCad based on the screen resolution of the monitor. You can try changing your screen resolution and see if the button returns, or reinstall your browser. Maybe try it on another browser to see if it returns.

Thanks, HTacianas; I'll give that a try!
