• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Does anyone or has anyone gone through this?
I have an extremely weak conscience, i look around and i see Christians do things that i am just unsure of. (not talking about any sin highlighted in the bible). Its almost like i scared to do anything that is not underlined in the bible as good. and if there is something that is debateable on wether it is good or bad i often not do it, this wouldn't seem like a bad thing on the surface but there is a lot that is debateable on bad and good.
How did you make these changes? if you went through this?

Well I guess it depends on what you are talking about. Since my OCD has hit I have been on my sister alot about her sins of premarital sex and masturbation. The thing is I am not trying to judge her just enlighten her but before OCD came I would have never mentioned it. So i sorta understand.

I suppose I don't entirely understand your question. You're saying that you are afraid your conscience is weak because whenever you aren't completely sure about whether something is right or wrong, you usually do it anyway?

If that's the case, then I would say it really depends. There isn't a fine line in areas like this, especially considering the fact that you have OCD. (or so I assume you have it since you're posting in the OCD forum). Maybe by doing something you aren't sure is right or not, you are sinning. However, you might also just be having excessive OCD worries. Sometimes you might be sinning by doing it, AND you are getting obsessive compulsive reactions to it.

I still struggle in this area, though, it used to be far harder when my OCD was at its high. I suppose my advice would be to definitely consider the morality of any choice you make, but try not to take the analyzation to an extreme. Those of us who suffer from OCD can really create an obscure nightmare in our brains if we allow ourselves to hyper-analyze everything. At some point, you just have to make a decision and get on with your life. :)

Yes, and the best thing for me has been to pray to the Lord that he could help me not to judge. Something I try is when I feel a negative or condemning thought about someone, rather than think about it I try to say something nice and positive about them.
