There are several ways in which we can express our worship to the Lord God we love so dearly. Like two people who are deeply in love with each other, there are several ways a man or woman can express their intimate love to their loved one. This might not be a perfect illustration but I hope it drives the point home.
I remember when I was still dating a woman I love so dearly who became my wife and mother to my treasured daughter. There were times I would meet her with a group of her friends going for lectures while still a student at Makerere University, I would just look at her, make a gesture or a sign and she would be all smiles because she knew that that gesture meant a million words of love to her.
When we come into the holy presence of our God we express our love and worship for Him in different ways, sometimes in a hymn, a Psalm, a dance or even just prostrate in silence before the King of kings. In this short article, however, I want to emphasize singing and dancing as one major way we can express our love and worship unto Him.
The Bible says, "Sing to the Lord a new song, sing His praises in the assembly of the saints let Israel rejoice in their maker, let the people of Zion be glad in their King let them praise His name with dancing and make music to Him with tambourine and harp for the Lord takes delight in His people He crowns the humble with salvation, let the Saints rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds." Psalms 149:1-5
In the part of Africa where I come from, I have been involved in worship services were I have witnessed some saints soaked wet in their sweat after they had vigorously danced in the presence of the King of kings. This may sound crazy but you ask King David. The Bible says in 2 Samuel 6:14 that David danced so strong before the ark of the covenant which was a symbol of God's presence at that time till his linen ephod fell off. Which literally means that David danced himself naked? His wife Michal daughter of Saul despised him but David won God's favor. The Bible quoted David saying:
"I will celebrate before the Lord, I will become even more undignified than this and I will be humiliated in my own eyes but by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor." 2 Samuel 6:21b- 22
