I suppose you've seen the video of a cat body-slamming a dog who attacked a boy:
After knocking the dog away, the cat glances at the kid to be sure he's O.K., and then takes off after the dog.
Yes I've seen this one, it's a classic.

Just for kicks, I'd like to create a thread where we can explain our avatars and maybe lighten things up a bit.

I'll start:

Mine is Alfred Enigma Neuman, mascot and cover boy for Mad Magazine.

I read Mad Magazine a lot while in the service (along with Dell comic books and Creepy) and kinda acquired an affinity for the guy.

Your turn. :)
I love bicycling, especially on dirt roads.

I do about ten miles on trails about four times a week, weather permitting. It's a form of vigorous exercise I can do in my 70s, and I really like it.

Outstanding! I was riding 15 to 20 miles a day last year but this year I've been too busy, having to work harder because everything is getting more expensive. Plus I have a huge vegetable garden to take care of. I've started riding my bike to deliver my packages to the post office every day and I feel so good that I get down on myself for falling away from cycling. It's a 13 mile round trip so I burn about 600 calories each trip. I either ride the gravel bike in my avatar or my fatbike or one of my recumbents. I hope I can still do it when I'm your age.

Are you familiar with the crazy guy on a bike website? It's a site where touring cyclists can post journals with photos of their tours. I was reading a couple of days ago a journal by a husband and wife riding their Tandem from Breckenridge, Colorado to Kalispell, Montana following the ACA Trans America route. They met a tourer going in the opposite direction. He said he was 80 years old and doing his fourth trip across America on the route. He said he lived for touring and he was doing a race this year and was proud to be in last place. Amazing? I hope I'm able to do that when I'm 80.

Here's the one I'm currently reading if you are interested. It's a guy named Brian Becker and he's a real character. He's riding across Canada from Buffalo, N.Y. He just made it to Calgary.

Roll me Away, by Brian Becker

I'm all caught up with his journal so I look forward each day to his updates as my treat at lunch. He's an inspiration and his journals are some of the best on the site.

A few years ago, I encountered this guy in Oklahoma. He was going from the Alaska panhandle to Florida; the construction company he was working for, went belly up, and he was going home on his own. He resisted at first, but I gave him some money to get a meal and a good night's sleep in a motel. Hope he got home with no problems.
