Are there no Saints in Heaven? Doesn't God hear all prayers?

Repeating the Hail Mary, Our Father, and Glory Be is for our sake, not God's or Mary's. The repetition in the decades and the counting beads are aids that help us stay focused on the real purpose of the chaplet: contemplation of the Rosary Mysteries that are taken directly from the Gospels and the Holy Tradition of the Church. Some people add the Fatima prayer, other's add other prayers. We offer this garland of roses to Mary for purposes of penance, instruction, and petition, so that we may grow in holiness. The rosary is not offered as worship.

Sorry but we don’t pray to dead people, we don't ritualistally pray in repetition, we don't hail Mary, we don’t follow the traditions of men and we don't do penance. And no, God does not hear all prayers.

Good! We have common ground because Catholics don't pray to dead people, neither do we pray as ritual, or follow the traditions of men. We do honor Mary as the Mother of our Lord, as He would like, and we do penance so that we won't be afraid to be drawn closer to God. I'm sorry you do not believe God hears all prayers. We know for certain that Moses and Elijah were translated to heaven and that there were some that rose with Christ on His day of resurrection to be presented as first fruits to His Father. These make up the 24 elders spoken of in Rev. 4

All souls that died after that day are resting in the ground awaiting His return... including all the Saints you pray to...

Why would you do that?

Hebrews 7:24, 25 - "But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them."

John 14:6 - "Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."


Also, where in Scripture does God tell us we should revere Mary in the Roman custom of doing so?

I don't need to ask them to pray for you, I choose to, just as I might ask you to pray for me. You have every right to refuse me.

A testimony, as in a confession, requires two witnesses. Surely this is in your bible?

Well, you don't have to confess to a witness, I do. I am really more interested in learning about your faith then defending my own. There is a large SDA congregation in our area with a beautiful modern church facility and school. One teenaged congregant came to my door recently and offered a brief but nicely illustrated tract. We said the Lord's Prayer together at my door before he left. I thought it might be good to get a better understanding of your faith firsthand from those who practice it. Looking over my posts in this thread I realize that what I wrote could easily be interpreted as somewhat disrespectful. That is the last thing I wanted to do. For that I ask your forgiveness.

Unfortunately, I've encountered many who don't want questions answered; rather they want to nit pick around and continually bring into question the same points over and over even after they've received an adequate explanation from Scripture.

I applaud your seeking spirit and encourage you to search the scriptures for yourself in whatever anyone may say. When I came into Adventism 6 years ago, the things that struck me was the knowledge of prophesy and how it is backed uip with historical accounts. Alot of questions i had growing up in the baptist church were finally answered in a way that made perfect sense to me, and they were based on numerous scripture... line upon line, here a little, there a little.

If the dead people who are being contacted are not really who they say they are and they're establishing practices for people who should be following God then we have millions of people being deceived and led astray by demonic influences. The Spirit's role in all this is to lead us into all truth based on the word of God of which speaks against trying to contact the dead.

Salvation is of the heart, which is where the Spirit does His work. If the Spirit is trying to lead in truth and we're rejecting it we can begin to harden our heart. This is the warning of sin.
