  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thought it would be good to share passages or videos of humans who encountered Jesus, and how the passage touches you. For me, the woman caught in adultery and the woman by the well are two passages that stand out to me, because it shows how encountering Jesus, changed these women. The woman caught in adultery realizes at that very moment that no men in her culture treated her with respect, like Jesus. He wasn't interested in her ''sin,'' he was interested in her as a person, and lifting her up.

The woman by the well realizes that she has met the Messiah, and she just knows it. In my turning away from Christianity, I realize He was always there for me. He was always waiting. The ''encounter'' that I've had recently with the Holy Spirit (there is no other explanation than this) helps me realize that I was wrong about the Bible, and that these people felt touched by God. The stories are not logical, and there is no evidence to 'show' someone that God exists. But, for me...He does.

Please feel free to share your own. :sunflower:

The greatest healing is to be made complete in Christ by receiving what all the disciples got at Pentecost (Acts 2:4; 1 Cor. 14:2, 4).

Here are some physical healing testimonies of people in teh international church I'm with.

Thank you for this. I used to read these stories and not feel much in the past (like they were just stories to make a point), but recently, after returning to Christianity...it's like I can relate to the people in the stories, now. So nice! :)

Hi Deidre,

I just came across this thread of yours, and I thought I'd add just one more example to the two that you nicely collected.

The other example of Jesus mediating with, and forgiving, a woman (for whatever past she had), is found in Luke 7:36-50. It seems to correspond to the others, and maybe it will give you some additional thoughts of inspiration...

Peace
