• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

just terrible experiences thru my christian walk other than normal everyday warfare has anyone else experienced this?

Every Saint who lives for Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
Every enemy we have is spiritual - not flesh.
Our only warfare is in prayer.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written,
“For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
—Romans 8:35-39

We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
—2 Corinthians 4:8-11

Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
—2 Timothy 3:12

Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name.
—1 Peter 4:12-14, 16

For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons. For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds.
2 Corinthians 10: 3-4

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6: 12(NKJV)

[God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross]. Colossians 2: 15

So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you. James 4: 7

So [as the result of the Messiah's intervention] they shall [reverently] fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him and put him to flight [for He will come like a rushing stream which the breath of the Lord drives]. Isaiah 59: 19

Hello Morty77,

If you would like to PM me and share what you are experiencing with it, maybe I can help you. Spiritual Warfare is defined openly and could mean many things, there are different levels of it, so its hard for people to know what's going on in your situation. If your relationship with God is under attack, you should be open in your posts if you feel comfortable. I'm new here too, and I just posted to a thread about spiritual warfare, dealing with demonic harassment, and I received many posts and private messages that have helped me understand it more, and suggestions on how to make things better. Pray for guidance, God will direct your heart.

Thankyou so much for the verses but right now i would love to meet someone
who can describe some of their experiences just to know Im not alone
is there any where on this site where we can do this and be open with one another

One may not have the same kind of experience you have, but as long-time believers some of us have had trials and difficulties to deal with, and have continued in peace and joy through it all til it passed.

You can write me at aninterface@ hotmail. com if you would like to have a sounding board and reflect upon this. You can view my profile. Look up always!

I would say I fit in the category of continual spiritual attack. It's like chronic depression in a way. At one time I was chronically depressed. Only when my depression hit extremes would I ever call myself depressed. It's a matter of comparisons. That is what my life is like in the spiritual realm. The attack seems to be almost unending -- my mind is the battlefield. Only when the attack becomes extreme do I pay much attention to it and acknowledge that it is really going on. Weird maybe, to have this perspective and I would hazard a guess that those who have never lived it would find my situation very difficult to understand.

Hi Morty77.

Yes. In the past 4 years, my husband's two brothers committed suicide - 2 years apart, his mother died of a very aggressive cancer, my mother was diagnosed with Parkinson's, my father had a stroke, my son went to jail after turning his back on Christ and becoming involved in drugs, alcohol, crime, and the occult, and my marriage came under attack.

At one point a year and a half ago, we sensed that the enemy had actually gained access to our home. He was just there - a presence of an evil force there to cause destruction.

We gave it over to God and let go completely of everything we were trying to hold together. We humbled ourselves before God and began resisting the devil - kept forcing our thoughts back to God when we felt tempted to fear the unknown future.

Within a few days, the atmosphere was clean and light and easier to breathe. God had just come in and taken care of his business. He cleaned house for us.

We are stronger now than we have ever been in our faith. More and more we are seeing what it means to have faith.

We think of martyrs and persecuted Christians like one in an Afghani prison who is set to be executed because he refuses to renounce Jesus Christ. His name is Said Musa. He has led one brother Muslim to Christ while there. He has also been beaten, spat on, and raped. But he refuses to deny Christ.

How can my warfare compare? I thank God for my life and ask that He somehow be glorified in it.
