  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Expensive Software!

I would love to have something like Photoshop 7. I love creating stuff, but the program cost like $600.00. How can so many of you afford that? I am using Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 3.1 which I got for free with my scanner. Any suggestions on how to get a better graphic program cheaper? Thanks!! :)

I paid less than a 100 for PSP 8 and I think it's the best graphic program anywhere. It comes with an animation program free.

Hmmm you're probably talking about Photoshop Elements for under $100?

I think you can get an academic version for $300.

Photoshop Elements is worth it though, it's about $60 or $70, and is almost as good as Photoshop, though with some very handy things taken out, like multiple undo's.

Gimp is cool though, if you learn to use it :)

May I ask where you got yours? I know one time I had an advertisement to buy Photoshop 7 for $35, but pathetically, I didn't have it to spare at the time.

I tried to download Gimp, but for some reason every link I've tried had lead to a dead end. I'll keep looking.

I'm not a student ....I'm on disability, so I doubt anybody will give me any price breaks.

*sigh* :sigh: I'm still looking for a graphic card that doesn't cost a heap.
jko gave me a link .... pricegrabber.com. but I couldn't find anything in my price range.

Ah well, the good new is - things are starting to look up for me :D . I'll get those things sooner or later .....but if anybody hears of any bargains on that stuff ...please let me know. I am kind of excited about getting more advanced graphics . As, I said, I love doing that sort of stuff.Thank You :)

I've wondered for awhile if the sellers at ebay can always be trusted? Has anybody ever bought anything over ebay?
On my quest to find a more advanced graphic program, I went back to Photoplus and found an upgraded version of the program I had. It's good but not nearly as good as Photoshop for one reason only - plugins!! It does have a plug-in folder - but it's empty. I couldn't find any (free) plugins at the Photoplus home page or anywhere on the internet. I've gotten good at finding the free stuff! I did find a free 3D program, it seems to be for amateurs and beginners but I'm going to try it.
I also found OriensEnhancerGOLD. its good, but still.....I want Photoshop 7 or 8. I might give ebay a try. Thanks for the help :)

My hubby has bought tons of things using Ebay..we only had one problem and that is when we recieved a DVD in Spanish instead of English and they took care of it right away.
He has bought software, auto parts, books, a Bible for me..a little bit of everything I guess:)

The sad truth is that many simply download software they can't afford, and the sadder truth is that others download even software that they can afford. This is not right, nor is it fair to the companies.

My suggestion is to run open-source programs on an open-source OS. It's cheap and there's plenty of great software out there! :)

There is also PhotoImpact by Ulead which I hear is a great program. I haven't used it too much but if your interested in my copy of it send me a pm.

I do have Photoshop but you know, I hardly ever use it. I have always used PaintShop Pro. I find it easier to learn and use.

Imagine how i feal as a lover of making 3d the cheapest good program i can buy is 2000$!

You can download the Maya Learning Edition for free now. AFAIK, the only restriction with using it is that you can't use it in commercial products.

(Bascially, you can't make money off of using their free tool)
