  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Is there a passage or two that tells us of the Egyptians who joined with Israel at the Exodus?

Or is that idea incorrect to begin with?

Take care

I have searched Exodus and beyond, and I can't find that anywhere. It was all doom and gloom as far as the Egyptian people go at the exodus out of Egypt. There might have been some believers that joined them, but the bible doesn't make reference to it.

Hitch, it is a valid idea. - Ex. 12:38, and again in Num 11:4, they are called the mixed multitude or erev rav in Hebrew. (Rashi tells us that the number of erev rav numbered 2,400,000) Here is a quote from the JFB Christian Commentary:

Numbers 11:4 said:
And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?

Mixed multitude ... fell a lusting. These consisted of Egyptians (see the note at Ex 12:38). To dream of banquets and plenty of animal food in the desert becomes a disease of the imagination; and to this excitement of the appetite no people are more liable than the natives of Egypt. But the Israelites participated in the same feelings, and expressed dissatisfaction with the manna on which they had hitherto been supported, in comparison with the vegetable luxuries with which they had been regaled in Egypt.
