  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

who's been told their parents will give them something if they do well in their exams, I think it's awful! some people I know were told last year they could have £50 for every A+, £40 for every A and £30 for every B they would get nothing for a C.
For their 11 year old SAT's we told both our kids they can have £1 a whole level... so their is a financial reward for going well... but not a huge increase or decrease if their grades fluctuate...and the most they can earn is £15.

I think for O'levels it is more difficult to offer a reward because by that age a youth should be self motivated to do well.. and reaching the grades they are aiming for should be reward enough. So I think at that age I'd be more inclined to celebrate finishing each stage of education all according to our budget of course.

I was never rewarded or even praised for my exam results... it made me feel my achievements were unvalued even though I failed my 11+ went to a low achieving secondary school where I worked hard and left with 10 top O'levels so was top ever achiever at my school. Because I know it makes a kid feel so bad when no one cares how well they do at school I do like to show my kids I believe in them and value their achievements.

We're probably making a mistake, but me and my mum promised my brother he could have £20 off each of us for every C and above he gets in his GCSEs next month. He's clever, but so rebellious about school, I'm worried he might fail just to make a statement and then regret it...

I'm all done with exams and deadlines as of this week, and sooo relieved!!

it does depend on circumatances, i think what irritates me is students who should be motivated having to be motivated by mummy n daddys money. I have friends who are hugely intelligent and dont work and £20 to get over Cs sounds reasonable to me. Its about being realistic about your ability.

My exams (GCSEs) start on Tuesday. I'm not as nervous as everyone else seems to be. I mean, I know I'm going to do ok, I'm not going to get all hung up about it, there are more important things in life than exams!
Anyway I got 4 A*s 6 As and a B in my mocks! If I get anything like that in the real ones I'll be very very happy!

Good luck to everyone who's taking exams, but don't worry about them!

Love
