Thinking of you all... although I have to admit I always rather loved exams!

... my son is taking his sat tests at the moment.. shouldn't be a big deal but it sure has been made into one by the locals! I'm not into boasting about grades or looking down on lower grades... but other folk arn't like me. Poor kids! I really feel for them.

My first AS exam is in 3 weeks....got all of them in a week, one each day monday to friday! not sure if thats a good thing lol! for you all, thanks for the idea of having a little pray just before you start the exam! i'll do that, gets you in the right frame of mind to do it!

i never really feel pressured about exams, the way i look at it is that you can only do your best and thats it!

and to those doing GCSEs here, one tip - most important exams so far in your life, make sure you put in lots of revision! it pays off trust me, i know from experience......predicted a C/D for Sciences and so thought " ! better do lots of revision cause 'm rubbish at it", even though in hated it.......and i ended up with an AA!

so, good luck to everyone - we'll all do our best, i'm sure!

Funny... I'd hate to do exams now... I guess the pleasure just wore off..

He's in year 6... ( he missed his age 7 tests cos we went on holiday so it's all new to him. )... but at his school this week the treachers give them lots of sweets after each test... so it isn't so bad! I bet you older guys don't get given the sweets each day...

shout2thelord... Sorry to hear your diffucult times. My mum died when I was 10 and it's tough going ( she was 38.... and I guess I still miss her :( ).... so tough for you at such a young age...praying for you. xx

me neither :(

can i go on a bit of a tangent please? who's been todl their parents will give them something if they do well in their exams, i think it's awful! some people i know were told last year they could have £50 for every A+, £40 for every A and £30 for every B they would get nothing for a C.

Firstly some of these people weren't intellectually capable of getting higher than a D and ought to have been praised for passing any exams. Secondly surely you want to pass your exams on your own merit and not because you'll get paid for it. Thirdly i dont believe parents should be putting a price on achievement, i think as parents they ought to be encouraging their child to do their best and be proud when they get grades they've worked hard for. And Lastly exams are stressful enough without any added pressure.

My parents did give me a small well-done gift on results day becuase they knew i'd worked hard but i know they were honouring my effort and it wouldnt have mattered whether my grades were all D or all A+

no need to apologise..

however, i am getting paid for good grades, and its only because they know i can acheive credit grades, it encourages me to do well. im sure they wouldnt if i wasnt capable of acheiving good grades.

I'm not sure about the £?? for each particular grade...my parents couldn't afford it anyway if I did well! lol

Last year, after my AS levels, my parents bought me a pc game, just as a reward to working hard and making the effort.

I think saying you get more money if you get higher grades is just a bit more pressure than you need. You have enough pressure from school to get the grades to get into 6th form, or carry on to A level from AS, or to get into a particular uni. I'm all for everyone just doing the best they can...I know thats all my parents want for me, just my best.
