LOL, brilliant. Skite means slide here.
For the same expression here we'd say
Yon dunderheaded yisless skelf cannae stoap havering aboot heehaw

At the risk of offending a section of the world another version would be...
Soem daft git is taaalkin hiz heeed off aboot nothin.

If your Robert doesn't give my Robert the 5 pence that he owes him, than he will come round and whack him on the nose!

( I am writing 'yorkshire')

Are you yorkshire or suffolk or just very good with dialects?? Your examples are superb. My attempts are based on geordie though I'm not one.

I have a few.

  • Toque as in a knitted hat (see photo below)
  • Cheque as in cheque-book, method of payment as long as you have sufficient funds in your chequing account.
  • Check as in the mark made beside a correct answer.
  • Smarties as in candy coated chocolates that leave colorful stains on your hands if you hold them too long.
  • Rockets = Canadian version of American Smarties.

Hey Rainbow...when you wait in a line do you call it a queue? Around here we have more of a southern flare but some people say queue when waiting in line.

we call it a queue and we call your elevator a lift

I wait in lines myself. :sorry: :) :D :) :( There always seems to be a joker and a grouch in the line.

What do you call a restroom?

I know you didn't ask me, but when I was a teen living in northern BC we called it the can. Of course for some of us that was exactly what it was. Depended on whether you had indoor plumbing or not. ;)

And was it kept under the bed? ^_^
Funny

At home we kept it in the closet between the bedrooms. We took all the shelves out and put a curtain across for privacy.

At my grandparents house, grandpa built a big shed against the house and put in a two seater with two cans. I always thought grandpa was pretty smart.

any expalantion will do - it doesnt have to be a 'proper' 'one!!!

OK, this is what I got from Wikipedia...

Redneck, in modern usage, predominantly refers to a particular stereotype of people who may be found predominantly in the southern United States, also in most areas of the Appalachian Mountains. The word can be used either as a pejorative or as a matter of pride, depending on context.
Usage of the term redneck generally differs from hick and hillbilly, because they reject or resist assimilation into the dominant culture, while hicks and hillbillies theoretically are isolated from the dominant culture.

I need to find a list of redneck terminology!!^_^

What do you call a restroom?

We have various lovely terms here from the humble toilet and WC to others such as loo, lavvy, bog and the most fragrant term of all......The Cludgie.
Back in the middle ages in Edinburgh when folks still used a chamber pot they would empty it by tipping it out the window after first shouting a warning "gird eloo" which meant watch out below. If you heard that you didn't stop to look up to see who was shouting ;)
