  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't know if this is appropriate, but I suppose this concerns us all.

Many of us watch EWTN, and love what it does, bringing our faith to millions around the world.

As of late their donations have dropped and they are half a million dollars in debt. They really need our help.

I just wanted to say that we need to pray, and (if we can) give 10, 20 dollars or whatever we can for them, so that they can continue to bring us the edifying programming that we enjoy so much.

We also need to pray for other dioceses struggling with finances - Spokane, Portland, and Tuscon, who have been sued into bankrupcy. Please pray!

Lord's Envoy,

We're not health and wealth gospel. We're the gospel of the cross.

Though im not catholic, I watched EWTN one sunday morning before church and found it more edifying than the TBN brotherhood. I watched one guy also, he has a talk show that I liked and he reveiwed movies. I forgot what the show was called so alas I havent seen it since. If you know what it is let me know.

Have you ever seen some of their methods for getting money? Things along the line of, "God has permitted me to tell you that if you give today, you will get ten fold your investment!".

I am sure there are some very good people with TBN, but some of their stuff really bothers me.

Who could argue. They really need a financial accountibility group to monitor them.

No worries. God will provide. I hope to send them something myself. Mother has always and often said that she prays to God to not let them be a success- to allow her to struggle, so they will always rely on His mercy and know that this network is run by divine providence and not human will.

The difference between Mother and TBN, is pure humility.

hehe, I was asking anyone who had seen it recently. I saw about 20 minutes the other night and it was all about "their" soy milk and managing diet. It was kinda weird. Not that managing diet is weird, but seeing it on a show that's not oriented that way is.
Yeah, on a local channel here that airs all kind of different non Catholic Christian shows there is this one infommercial that sells these health chew and some kind of mineral water that comes from Israel or something. I don't know what is up with all of that. And this one really bad preacher looking guy wearing a bad toupee was selling miracle water… and they talk about our holy water??

Go to https://www.ewtn.com/ewtn/ssl/donation/donation_ewtn.asp for donations.

I stayed with the Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word about 2 weeks ago, they are very cool people, besides it's almost winter and we can't have the sisters freezing to death in that huge monastery! The donations for EWTN help pay for two monasteries and the studios, so it can be expensive, please help!

Peace in Christ,

Malcolm

You know, before I converted, I discovered EWTN once we got Dish . . . and TBN is right next door to them in the line up . . . there is simply no comparison . . . Now, if I tune to TBN, it seems so "tinny" . . I may get something from it for a few moments . .but then it just goes flop . . . I turn to EWTN, and there is such depth and richness in the message being conveyed . . .

I know what you mean . . :)

Peace in Him!

I am glad to donate to EWTN. I love everything they do.

As for Spokane, Portland and Tuscon...they made their own bed. Now they can lay in it.

Well, thanks a lot! Especially since our Archbishop and those now here were not involved in what happened . . .

So . . I guess we are not deserving of your prayers?

hmmmm . . .

Well, I will still pray for you . . :)

Peace in Him!

Benny Hinn . . . . . Could we just pray for people who are fooled by him?

TBN, **God forgive me**, :holy: they're fake, too sweet, yuck, yuck, yuck . . . . Do the women have a contract with Maybeline or Max Factor? Clearly, they've taken their make-up application lessons from Tammy Faye.

Okay, those weren't very nice comments (I guess they weren't nice at all), but I just can't make myself watch those people.

I get some good out of TBN, but don't spend much time there any more.

btw, what's going on with the 700 Club? Are they doing some health food thing?
I think Pat Robertson had health problems related to being overweight or eating unhealthily and wants to share what he's learned from that. I think that's OK, since a lot of Americans are out of shape.
