May be but Columbus is known for it.Physics_guy said:Columbus and basically all the educated men of his time knew that the Earth was round before he set sail. What people didn't know for sure was the size of the Earth and Columbus was actually quite wrong on that. Other scientists of the time thought that he would never make it to Asia because the voyage would be too long (they were right!), but Columbus was stubborn and thought he would. He simply got lucky and ran into a continent halfway there!
May be but Columbus is known for it.

One who remains said:...the mere fact that science cant prove the transition from single cell organisms to us...
Science has a way of when they dont know the answer they will come up with a "theory" on it until they can get an answer that has proof.
ONE said:To Believe In The Theory Of Evolution You Have To Believe That We Started Out As Single Cell Organisms And Later Formed Into Something Else And Something Else Etc. Etc. Biblically It Says In Genesis That We Were Created In The Image Of God, And To Create Eve He Took A Rib From Adams Chest, So The Two Obviously Contradict Each Other. But What Are Your Views.
Intelligent design is a bad argument because different organisms have countless problems that an intelligent designer would have been able to correct. Evolution is a "bottom up tinkering process" that works good enough but is far from perfection, a "top down" designer wouldn't have given u such weak intervertebral disks that would work much better in a quadroped. Saying that things like the eye and brain evolved by random chance understates how rigorous the process that created them is. We're talking millions of years of adaptation.Intrepid99 said:What have you observed in the natural world?? The complexity of your eyes and brain cannot be evolved by randomness and chance.
So yes, Bible can be literally read.

It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in(Isaiah 40:22)
When he established the heavens, I was there, when he drew a circle on the face of the deep, 28 when he made firm the skies above, when he established the fountains of the deep, 29 when he assigned to the sea its limit, so that the waters might not transgress his command, when he marked out the foundations of the earth, (Proverbs 8:27)
HRE said:You know, if evolution is ever shown to be totally undeniable unrefutable fact (moreso than it already is), I am sure the interpretation of the Bible will change to agree.
"Oh, look, prophet such and such said X! How on earth did we miss that before?"
There was plenty of biblical scripture supporting a flat earth or a geocentric universe before those were shown to be totally and completely false, also.
The point is that the Bible is constantly interpreted and re-interpreted so that it can never look false.Sopharos said:Point?
And I would hope you're not talking about me, for then my words have come across the web seriously altered from their original intentions.ego licet visum said:I'd rather have logic on my side then the Bible. Sorry.
