  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That's why everyone is questioning what you present as actual proof, when it appears that all you can do is give tests, and no real usable information.

Sorry, you lost me when you suggested the Tiktaalik prediction was "luck."

'parently, I'm not a part of everyone. Story of my life. ;)

See what I mean...

Why do you think that the above is a valid response?

I agree that the earth is Dynamic, but it doesn't somehow disable me from observing superposition.

@inquiring mind it sounds like you're suggesting that because plate tectonics recycles rock, this reality somehow makes us unable to figure out what is or is not devonian rock.

Why do you think that the above is a valid response?

I agree that the earth is Dynamic, but it doesn't somehow inable me from observing superposition.

@inquiring mind you know there are young earth creationists who openly talk about and identify devonian rock. So why can they do it, but you can't?
This just gets more ridiculous... You have won the 'No more hoops for you' award.

If all scientists, be them 99% of geologists who are aware of superposition and an old earth or the 1% of young earth flood geologists, can figure out where devonian rock is...

Then @inquiring mind then you should be able to as well. There is no excuse for this.

Anything to evade actually answering his questions, eh?

Just a heads up...the fact that you would even suggest that Tiktaalik was a lucky find (in the manner you suggest) completely justifies his line of questioning.

The earth is dynamic now; it was unimaginably dynamic then... and you can predict what happened?

We can predict where fossils can be found because we have a geologic succession based on the logic of super position.

Rocks on the bottom are older than rocks on top because rocks on top cannot hover in space. If a rock is turned on it's side, then just walk over or drive over to a place in which it is not, it's called lateral continuity.

I'm a geologist. I probably know how complex the earth is in ways that realistically you wouldn't understand. But in many places the earth can also be pretty simple.

Flood geologists have no issues figuring out what rock is and is not devonian, and neither should you

If you cared to understand what devonian rock is. And of course this is necessary for someone to understand in order to understand how the prediction was made and why it's significant.

And if you want me to teach you where devonian rock is, I can do that. Then maybe you will understand why tiktaalik being within it, is significant and how it is predictable.
No thanks, I've read all about it. If you had witnessed events of that time, you would be humbled and speechless as to what man could make of it... maybe.

Curious if you have spent much time studying the Hawaiian islands, geologically? I've spent a significant portion of my life over there, and find it fascinating.

Great, then you should know what volcanoes and lava flow do to rocks on a local scale; I wish you could imagine a world-wide scale of events.

Ok, you're not interested in learning then, and if you aren't interested in learning, then having debates on science is no place for you.

It's called contact metamorphism. Are you familiar with contact metamorphism? How about regional metamorphism?

Also, volcanoes don't exist everywhere on earth. Many roocks have not been affected by volvanic eruptions.

Yep. It gives BIRTH to rocks.

I wish you could imagine a world-wide scale of events.

I can. Hence my disbelief in a worldwide flood.

I actually have not been to Hawaii. Though of course it is famous for it's hot spot activities and shield volvanoes. One day I hope to go for a vacation there. Maybe collect some rocks. I'm also a big "lost" fan which was filmed there lol.

Why should I let your common sense carry any more weight in this regard, than it does regarding the events of the earth when it was being broken apart.
