  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How tiresome these threads are.

Creationist: Evolution is false! What about...
Evolutionist: Well, you see, if we look at the evidence...
Creationist: Nuh Uh!! It's all lies and conspiracy!!!!!111! The bible says...
Evolutionist: :-|

I mean seriously, this poster compares "believing" in evolution to believing the earth is flat. THERE'S A FLAT EARTH THREAD IN THIS SUB RIGHT NOW (Actually in the parent sub) in which his fellow Christians are calling globe Earth conspiracy and hoax without presenting any evidence of anything while at the same chiding those trying to explain why they might be mistaken to "do their own research" and present evidence that they themselves collected. It's complete inanity.

Yet, you're here.

I am. I'm a member of this bard the same as you except I have less freedom to comment than you based on a label. Makes it no less tiresome and frustrating. What is it that you want out of these threads? Are you actually trying to learn anything or are you "just asking questions" that you have no intention of actually accepting the answers to? Are you just trying to confirm your beliefs in Creation? Are you tryin to disprove Evolution? Why are YOU here? Because beginning your topic with "don’t ask me to quote anything, it’s there, look for yourself" does not bode well for any kind of honest discussion you're feigning you want to have.

Ouch! All that because I kinda questioned why you're here if you're so tired of it.

Well, your methods about the billions of years is all based on assumptions. I call that poppycock.
I assume David is Christian.

But given that using an assumption is apparently just a way of admitting that you have no idea, it is just poppycock is a Christian.

However... that isn't the case with humans!? The early version of man, the Ape, is still alive and well and would be thriving if not for man's encroachment into their living areas.

Well let's see...

The 'apes' include chimp, gorilla, orangutan, gibbons - each each of those also have subspecies.

So, according to you, one of them is our ancestor.

Which one?

How do you know?

Can you find a single evolutionary biologist that would agree that an extant ape is our ancestor?

Thanks.

Why not? And if the theory of evolution isn't 100% right then it is wrong.
And as you've been informed, even if this were so, that would not make YECism correct. Or even in the running.

Not poking here... just want to clarify. I don't have protective labels; I have to account for my comments just like you.

You misunderstand, "Tas," I don't believe any are our ancestor, I am a believer in God who created us all... even you. It is the evolutionists who have said we came from ____. But in all other species, the previous version disappears save for the genus Homo, where all the weaker previous versions continued on. It makes no sense and you didn't even address that point... you instead grabbed a detail you figured you could score a point with AND distract.

Incidentally, I shared about all I care to on this topic. If you want to talk about God, I am all in. I have no time for debate, especially topics like this with folks with your world view. I just, well... you're welcome to believe whatever you want.

That’s all good, but back to the discussion here, why isn’t there a lot of definite fossil evidence for a transition route from ape to man? After all the research & study that’s been done there should be something more than connecting the dots (as AV says).
Perhaps you can start by telling us all what, exactly, you know about the process of fossilization, and then explain what you would consider sufficient fossil evidence, and why you think that should have been found by now.

And if you could, maybe you show me biological evidence of your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc. all the way back to Adam.
Should be easy, since you would only need to find about 300 generations worth of material, as opposed to the 750,000 or so back to the human-chimp LCA.

Can't wait!

Ah, so you just misrepresented evolution. Or didn't know any better.

I am not a theologian, which is why I tend not to argue theology. I will never understand why someone that does not understand something very well would nevertheless argue about it.
But in all other species, the previous version disappears save for the genus Homo, where all the weaker previous versions continued on.
And you further admitted that you do not understand evolution.

As an analogy, tell me - did your parents die when you were born?

Also, what do you mean by weaker? Do you think life is a zero-sum game premised on physical strength?
It makes no sense and you didn't even address that point... you instead grabbed a detail you figured you could score a point with AND distract.
Um... It is not a 'detail' when you premise an argument on a false assumption.

If I were arguing against Jehovah being God by claiming that Jehovah was a giant blue guy, would you wonder if I even knew what I was talking about?
Incidentally, I shared about all I care to on this topic. If you want to talk about God, I am all in. I have no time for debate, especially topics like this with folks with your world view. I just, well... you're welcome to believe whatever you want.

Wow, thanks for condescending from On High to... belittle me with your bigoted views?

Goodness...Bye "Ken".

You'll have to. You sure turned a simple question into a major project.

You're an atheist on a CHRISTIAN forum... seriously?
This section is open to non-believers.

Does it scare you that your "arguments" don't seem to work on those not of you faith?
