If the OP decides to object to him posting on his thread, then he is the one to say it. Also, if our friend is really a total dyed in the wool atheist, then he wouldn't be posting on threads in a Christian forum.
So, if there is a spark of hope there, and Jesus said that He would quench a smoking flax, then I wouldn't want to go against the Lord and stamp that spark out.

Nor would I want any dissing of Christianity by a second non-believer to stamp out the spark of the one non-believer allowed on the thread.

I understand. But the OP would be looking for pearls of wisdom from Christians rather than atheists, so I don't think he would be put off by our atheist friends' comments.

I don't mean to be rude to your parent's friend who was in the western desert during WWII but what does it matter what they said? I don't get your meaning. Can you elaborate?

What the friend said was that there were those in his platoon who proclaimed they were atheists, but when the air raids and shells came over, they huddled in their fox holes and prayed desperately to God.

I feel certain James would not, but I cannot speak to the level of confusion in future non-Christian posters seeking answers.
