• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No. He won't.

Mark 3:28-29
Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation

It's a dangerous doctrine.

1. It blasphemes God, since God says He made us in His image, whereas evolution says we came from an animal.
Who cares? What's dangerous about this?

2. It teaches us human beings are animals, whereas God has set us apart from the animal kingdom.
What's dangerous about this?

3. It teaches we came about by natural processes, whereas God created us via a miraculous fiat.
What's dangerous about this?

4. It reduces Genesis 1 to the status of a fable, starting a process whereby the rest of the Scriptures are looked upon with suspicion. Left unchecked, this downward spiral will eventually lead to every jot & tittle being reduced to the status of an allegory.
Who cares? What's dangerous about this?

5. It breeds contempt between evolutionists and creationists.
No it doesn't. There's no civil way here to really explain exactly what brings contempt between evolutionists and creationists so I'll just let other figure it out.

6. It creates a zero tolerance for those who don't appreciate it, or know how it works -- right down to the molecular level.
No it doesn't. You're welcome to not appreciate it, not know how it works etc. But you don't get to decree your own facts or at least expect others to respect your self-declared facts.

7. It creates a philosophy that the Antichrist will be able to exploit to the fullest.
Who cares?

Yes, it does.

I'm speaking from seven years experience here.

If one espouses evolution, but puts a comma where a period aught to go -- look out!

And although I don't espouse evolution, per se, I've see many others get blistered for not having even the finest of details correct.*

I finally got tired of it and reduced evolution down to a formula, just to shut them up:

Evolution = Δalleles/T.

* Only if they have a Christian icon though. I've seen others say something wrong, and others let it slide.

I thought you were proud of your ignorance?

If one espouses evolution, but puts a comma where a period aught to go -- look out!

Indeed -- someone might correct your grammar.

And although I don't espouse evolution, per se, I've see many others get blistered for not having even the finest of details correct.*

I finally got tired of it and reduced evolution down to a formula, just to shut them up:

Evolution = Δalleles/T.

If one's entire purpose for being here is to tear down evolution, is it too much to ask that they get it right?

People treating you with little respect on here has nothing to do with evolution at all.

It has nothing to do with Christianity either -- although, as you are fond of saying, is has more to do with what you are than what you do.

I believe Dr. Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum's character in Jurassic Park) sums it up nicely.

Life distinguishes itself from non-life in the way in which it perpetuates itself. That is to say, life is about survival and furthering yourself into the future generations (I say that instead of "reproducing" since one can perpetuate themselves into future generations in human society by impacting society in some way, that could be negative or positive mind you).

If you want to survive, then it is imperative that you follow some version of the golden rule. You won't make it long otherwise. So, despite what some have said on this thread, life (and the manner in which it evolves) is not a system that permits any and all actions and reactions from the actors.

Also, Heissonear, you make that claim again about being a "formally educated evolutionist..." You going to provide the qualifications for that claim today?

Forgiven, but not unaccountable. Christians will still pay for all sins they committed.

It has no real philosophical implications, except that the Genesis narrative isn't meant to be taken completely literally, which was not generally done throughout history anyway.
Then don't ask us to take the evolution story literally either.

You want to interpret it allegorically? How would that work?

(Although I will mention that if you don't want to accept the evidence for evolution, that's your right. I just want to show that it doesn't conflict with my theology).
