  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What is it then? allegorical?

Fine -- how about you tell me, from your POV, what "day" the sun was "created" and what "day" the "angiosperms" were created.

From your POV -- be it allegorical or otherwise.

Nobody knows. What we do know is that it was not 6,000 years ago, and that the sun came before the earth.

You signature makes no sense to me.

I don't understand it.

Jesus said the stones would cry out His glory.

Jesus spoke in metaphors.

I don't know, perhaps it is nothing more than made up. Regardless, from the physical facts we know it is not literal.

Formed, not created. A little over 4.6 Ga according to scientific sources:
The Absolute Chronology and Thermal Processing of Solids in the Solar Protoplanetary Disk

Angiosperms are first known in the geologic record from about 160 Ma.
Shrub genome reveals secrets of flower power : Nature News & Comment

That of course is the point of view of mainstream science, of which I have no problem accepting until shown credible scientific evidence to the contrary. Also, contemplate that the bible has flowing plants (angiosperms) in full flower prior to the origin of the sun.

Of course it makes no sense to you. You have accepted the idea that God deliberately is deceiving us by "embedding" the geologic, oceanographic, and atmospheric record and processes in the earth. Believing the earth is only 6,000 years old.

:amen: And they very much do so. We call it the geologic record. Praise Jesus! Glory be to God in the highest.

Sad to see those here who are against that truth, isn't it? Where do you believe the view that all creation is a Godless creation comes from?

How do you know the sun came about before the earth? I would
suspect no one knows how or when it came about except for maybe
God, who was there.

You would also first need to solve the faint young sun paradox I would think.
Fun fact: Our sun is brighter than 85% of the stars in the Milky Way Galaxy.

Fun fact, your fun fact is 100% false. Even more fun fact, even if it were true, there are so many stars in our galaxy it wouldn't even matter in regards to how plausible life is. And what of that supposed 15% which are brighter or equal in brightness, obviously even with this bogus statistic the brightness of the sun is not particularly unique. Considering the earth spent its first 1 billion years orbiting the sun without any life on it, and the brightness of stars changes as they age, is it so impossible that even if our sun started out too dim for life, it got brighter during that time?

Then believe your pastor, you're going to anyway no matter what anyone else tells you after all he does talk for God.
Other good people to believe are Ken Ham and Kent Hovind because they are both experts in every branch of science.

God didn't put scars on the earth. They got there from things falling from the sky. And no where do I see in the bible that God put navels on Adam and Eve.
And if all the "things falling from the sky" had fallen in the last 6,000 years the earth would still be cooling and be incapable of supporting life.

Okay, Loudmouth, I'm going to try to explain this yet again to you guys:

These scars you guys are seeing on the earth and throughout the universe occurred after the creation week, and are a result of a cosmic battle between the good angels and the fallen angels.

And you know this how? Hypothesis?

Where does this 6000 years ago come from?

The 6000 years tends to be accepted as the age of the earth per the bible, they get it by adding up ages people when they die compared to the ages their offspring are etc.

You must not have even looked. Genesis 2:7.

You do know how we got our belly buttons, right?

Yes, I do know how we got belly buttons.

I also know a woman who had plastic surgery and her belly button was removed. The doctors made a new one for her.

Is such an act beyond the abilities of the almighty? No? Then you can say that umbilical cord attachment is the only way to get a belly button.
