Matt 13:31-32: ” “the kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed which…is the least of all seeds, but when it is grown is the greatest among herbs and becometh a tree.”


1, mustard seeds are not the smallest of seeds, there are others which are smaller.

2, and even if you want to push this idea that "least" isn't referring to size, mustard plants do not become trees.

So what sort of seed would you say heaven is like?

No It isn't a lesson in biology it is a lesson in spirituality. Actually I am not really going to pursue this further as it is just pedantics and probably suffered at the hands of translators. God was not out to deceive -if you can prove otherwise I will listen.

I don't worry too much about the small errors in the Bible, such as the mustard seed lesson or that pi is three. Those are minor niggling errors. Though it can be entertaining to see some theists defend even those. What bothers me are bigger things like how many people were involved in a particular battle. You can almost bet that when it comes to a major battle if there are two different accounts there will be two different numbers of participants listed. Of an even greater concern is that the time of the crucifixion varies depending upon the Gospel. Also when it comes to the tomb the number of people, the time, who was there, and what they saw is different in each Gospel.

Quite a bit, actually. Take the word "world" in the KJ bible. The translators did a poor job, in my opinion, in the usage of the word. For example, one of the most used 'endtime' chapters in the bible is Matthew 24. This is a question the disciples asked Jesus.....

Mat 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? (KJV).

Well, "world" is not, in my opinion, the best translation of the greek word "aion" used in the passage. A better rendering would be....

Mat 24:3 As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"

A better understanding of scripture always helps, I've found.

I believe 7 million children die each year, of horrific deaths. Lots of parents are praying endlessly to save their children, but they die and suffer.
