  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've never understood how assuming a creator explains anything. If it's too difficult to imagine life coming to being without a creator, wouldn't it be even harder to imagine an entity capable of creating said life? Where did she/he/it come from? Created by the super-creator?
The very idea boggles the mind.

As does the idea that the creator could "always" have existed.
Eternity from now on is not that hard to imagine - however, if the creator always existed, then an infinite timespan already must have passed for him. He would therefore live "at the end of an eternity", which happens to be right now. That's quite an oxymoron and really hard to grasp.

Anyway...many (not all!) creationists seem to enjoy the odds game (despite of it being a-posteriori and therefore totally pointless).

What are the odds of God creating the world at exactly this part of eternity where He did it? One moment in time out of an infinite number of possible ones. That's 1 : infinity against it, by their own logic, which easily surpasses any odds against evolution which they come up with ;)
