I was here before, and because of this place I actualy decided to properly look up what evolution is and what it means. I've taken a while, and looked up and researched a lot, not just from Creationist perspectives, but from a scientific perspective, also. It seems as though evolution has evidence that easily refutes everything I've ever heared from other creationists, of course, I still believe God gave us this wonderful universe, but from what I've learned, evolution is undeniable. It looks like evolution is just the mechanism by which our Lord created us, because the evidence for it is overwhelming, but if Genesis is to be taken litteraly then it would mean God lied to us. I no longer believe that Genesis was supposed to be taken litterally, but rather as a story, to set out the fact that God did all of this for us. We live in an incredibly complex and intricate universe, and even with all God's power and grace he would've had to create it all in such a way that we could come to understand the process by which he did.

So, to all you creationists: What is it that keeps you away from believing Evolution? What is it that means you so adamantly reject it? Because, talking from personal experience, once you've learned about it, it makes a lot more sense than our Father doing it instantaniously. He wants us to understand him, and trust him, and to be honest, I really do believe he would create us in such a way that we could come to understand how he did it as much as possible.

And to you other evolutionists: Do you have any more litterature or sites or anything I can read on the subject?

Maybe you should become a Catholic (just kidding). Catholics are free to believe creationism or theistic evolution.

Believing in either does not determine whether we go to hell or heaven.

Honestly though I don't understand why some Christians get all hung up about creationism vs evolution.

Concerning biological evolution, the CC does not have an official position on whether various life forms developed over the course of time. However, it says that, if they did develop, then they did so under the impetus and guidance of God, and their ultimate creation must be ascribed to him.

Concerning human evolution, the CC has a more definite teaching. It allows for the possibility that man&#8217;s body developed from previous biological forms, under God&#8217;s guidance, but it insists on the special creation of his soul. Pope Pius XII declared that "the teaching authority of the Church does not forbid that, in conformity with the present state of human sciences and sacred theology, research and discussions . . . take place with regard to the doctrine of evolution, in as far as it inquires into the origin of the human body as coming from pre-existent and living matter&#8212;[but] the Catholic faith obliges us to hold that souls are immediately created by God" (Pius XII, Humani Generis 36). So whether the human body was specially created or developed, we are required to hold as a matter of Catholic faith that the human soul is specially created; it did not evolve, and it is not inherited from our parents, as our bodies are.

While the Church permits belief in either special creation or developmental creation on certain questions, it in no circumstances permits belief in atheistic evolution.

Creationism within Christianity is mostly an American phenomenon. I for one have never met a Creationist in real life, apparently there are some over here, but it's such a small group as to be almost non-existent. It is in the USA where there are debates about whether this that or the other should be taught in state schools, and frankly the rest of the world looks on disbelief that the USA, one of the world's more powerful nations and home to so many great thinkers could also be a place where science is rejected.

I for one think that creation should remain as a belief and not made into a scientific theory... But school should start singing psalms with the students from early age. Christianity should be taught in a seperate course from early age. But not made into science at this level!

In my opinion, Christianity and evolution don't mix.

Evolution -- to Christianity -- is blasphemy; whereas Christianity -- to evolution -- should be foolishness.

The fact that evolution was not taught by Jesus and was not even codified until the late 19th century should be good enough to convince anyone that evolution has no part in the Christian mindset.

Show me evolution in the Bible.
