Psalms 37:1-7 ESV

“Fret not yourself because of evildoers;
be not envious of wrongdoers!
2 For they will soon fade like the grass
and wither like the green herb.
3 Trust in the Lord, and do good;
dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
6 He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,
and your justice as the noonday.
7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;
fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way,
over the man who carries out evil devices!”

There are a lot of evildoers in this world of ours, and many of them are disguised as those who are good or as servants of righteousness. And this includes people who profess faith in Jesus Christ, and pastors and elders of church congregations (or what is falsely being called “church”), and government officials, and actors, and sports heroes, some of whom profess faith in Jesus Christ, but not in truth. For there is so much deception out there, and many of us were or are deceived into believing their lies.

Now we live in an era where evil is being spoken of as good and where good is being spoken of as evil, and where evildoers are being praised while the godly of this world are being cast aside. But it isn’t just that. It is that so many evildoers are disguised as the good guys and so many who are truly good, because of their walks of faith in the Lord Jesus, are being treated as though they are the bad guys. But this isn’t just about those of faith or not of faith, but it is about everything being turned upside down.

Well, the bottom line really is about deception and deceiving spirits. For many of us from childhood on up were taught who were the good guys and who were the bad guys, and so we believed what we were taught and we carried that into our thinking as adults. But if we recognize that there is much deception in this world we can’t take everyone at face value for who they say they are, for there are many people being regarded as good who are some of the most nefarious of them all, if we only knew the truth and could see all the clandestine operations going on behind closed doors.

So, not only are we not to fear evildoers and what they might do to us, but we must be discerning of who these evildoers actually are, for many of them are disguised as the “good guys” when they are truly the bad guys. So, when we are not fearing evildoers, and we are putting our trust in the Lord, we also need to ask the Lord to show us the bad guys who are disguised as the good guys and the good guys who are being falsely accused of being the bad guys, for there is a lot of that going on right under our noses.

And we are not to fear when we are falsely accused of wrongdoing and when the truly bad guys are praised as though they are righteous. For the truth is all going to come out in the end. So we just need to keep going on in doing what God has called us to do despite all opposition and regardless of what other people think of us and despite being rejected because of our walks of faith in Jesus Christ. For we will be richly rewarded by God in the end because we chose to follow him and not the ways of man.

For Our Nation

An Original Work / September 11, 2012

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.
