  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Oh please. None of that shows criminality on Trump's part. Land deals? Really? That's all they got? So you can't try and work out land deals in foreign countries? And the 7 pleas? What are they for? None of it is for crimes Trump committed.

And all the Russian stuff? Of course they tried to interfere in the election. I bet they've been doing it for years! Still no evidence that Trump broke the law.

It's been a witch Hunt from the start and two years later they still got nothing but some people who lied to investigators and tax cheats.
President Warlock appreciates your loyalty.

So that's the talking point now? The Right finally admits that there was Russian interference in the election, but doesn't think it matters?

Hmm... Still no criminal charges? Didn't think so.
So what? You're the one who thinks that the Mueller investigation is a "witch hunt" to "get Trump." If Mueller gets to the bottom of the Russian interference in our election, I, for one, won't be disappointed if no criminal charges are laid against Trump.

That's not the point is it. Of course it matters! I don't want ANY country messing with our elections. We get enough misinformation during elections from our own people. We don't need more from other countries.

Campaign finance violations are criminal.

Land deals? Really? That's all they got? So you can't try and work out land deals in foreign countries?

Not if you do it in a way that's illegal.

And the 7 pleas? What are they for? None of it is for crimes Trump committed.

Except that there is evidence that he broke the law, which I've already described.

It's been a witch Hunt from the start and two years later they still got nothing but some people who lied to investigators and tax cheats.

*psst* they're not done yet

Two years isn't a long time for these investigations and the prosecutions typically start at the bottom and work their way up. There's a strong argument to be made that they can't indict a sitting president anyways.

I don't understand how a serious, intelligent, honest person can even make the argument you just made. It's a stupid argument. You don't know that they "got nothing" - your only information is what's been leaked or released to the press, which isn't much. You have no idea what they have on him so far. Things don't cease to exist just because you're ignorant of them.

So why is the Right so anxious to spin the Mueller investigation into nothing but a "witch hunt" to "get Trump?"

Though it is good to know that there are some conservatives like yourself who will now actually admit that any Russian interference in our election took place at all.

Information from today’s release on the warrant to search Cohen’s home.

How Trump let the FBI into Cohen's email, and 4 more takeaways from Mueller's search warrant

4. Trump exposed Cohen's Gmail.Despite the warrant's orders, Google wouldn't hand over data stored on "servers located outside of the United States." But Trump soon signed a law giving U.S. law enforcement enhanced access to overseas servers, prompting U.S. prosecutors to return to court and eventually win access to Cohen's Gmail.

Hear here!
In fact I think, that Mueller has the goods on 45 (in still sealed indictments pending before the courts). We will never see those indictments as they will be held to ensure that either Trump doesn’t run, my preference, or is convinced to eat a baby* on the campaign trial so that the only people who vote for him are investigated immediately!

*or some other equally horrific thing that will turn off “moderates”.

Sorry, but it's not. They have gone after Trump despite no evidence that he committed any crimes in this Russian probe.

No, they've investigated Russian interference in the 2016 election. Weird that his supporters seems to view this as somehow related to Trump himself.

They still haven't shown he committed any crimes. Now, I don't believe anyone should get away with crimes committed. And if the FBI comes forward and presents a case for crimes he committed then he ought to be charged.

I don't support the man, he's a class one jerk. But the way he's been attacked right from the start makes me disgusted. And so far after two years there still isn't anything.

As I said, patience, friend. And remember that there are investigations. That’s plural.

I think most people recognize the Russians were messing around in the election. Like I said they've probably been doing it for years! What most of us are questioning is the Trump Russian collusion to affect the election.

Perhaps I misunderstand you. Are you saying that the investigation had nothing to do with a Trump/Russia collusion issue? I remember from day one the news media and all kinds of people talking about it and how it should be investigated. Then Meuller got involved and it just amped up from there.

The Mueller investigation is about Russian interference in the election and the possible involvement of Americans in it, including members of Trump's campaign. Have you never read Mueller's orders?
https://www.justice.gov/opa/press-release/file/967231/download
It never was specifically about Trump himself.

Trump still denies it.

Which is mostly right-wing spin. That is what I have been questioning. Why is the right so anxious to misrepresent the Mueller investigation as nothing but a witch hunt to get Trump for collusion? The only thing I can come up with is that if Mueller comes up with no collusion by Trump he can brush off any other of Mueller's real findings as inconsequential.

Kudos. Some of your fellow travelers think it's fine if foreign powers interfere with our elections because "we do it too".

And they succeeded.

Donald is a businessman. He had business deals with the Russians both before and during his campaign. What did he offer them?
