  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Apparently with infinite universes every possibility is realized. So there is a universe out there in which I'm married to Halle Berry. And here I am, stuck in this one. :(

(hope my wife never sees this post...:D)

It could be worse. You could be stuck in the one where you're married to Mel Gibson.

It's still just speculation. Quantum theory suggests 10 to 11 dimensions. But the day I understand quantum theory means that I can afford to advance my education. For now, this is all I have:

YouTube - Imagining the Tenth Dimension part 1 of 2
I was with video up until the 4th dimension. In my opinion, time isn't real, but an illusion. It's merely a man-made concept used to keep track between events. Time isn't a real physical property, it's more philosphical than anything else, like morality.

Still, thank you for posting the video. It greatly helped my understanding dimensions. Is there a similar video that discusses dimensions higher than the sixth one?

Yes, the one I posted has 2 parts. Clicking the link at the top of the video should lead you on to the second part.

If you think of our 3 dimensional space as a line (which is one dimension on it's own), time is basically our 3 dimensional space as measured along that line.

Time is also not technically the 4th dimension, just an additional one. A 4th dimension would technically be distinguished as an axis that is 90 degrees from the three we can see.

Indeed.

This is why this can be said of Jesus:

Acts 17:27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

Thanx, I'll check it out in a bit.

If you think of our 3 dimensional space as a line (which is one dimension on it's own), time is basically our 3 dimensional space as measured along that line.
But this doesn't seem to match. The dimensions such as length, width and hieght, are all physical dimensions. Time isn't one, it's simply theoretical based on relative perception. And because time is relative, it can be argued that time isn't objectively real.

Time is also not technically the 4th dimension, just an additional one. A 4th dimension would technically be distinguished as an axis that is 90 degrees from the three we can see.

By this definition, would it be logical to say that there are infinite dimensions? Because there are endless, infinitesmal degrees between 90 and 91 degrees, such as 90.5 degrees, 90.6 degrees, 90.61 degrees, etc.

Thanx for this vid too, I'll watch this one also.

Heh I with you on this :> Neat video and cool if true and cool if we could figure out to move into higher dimensions.

But to me I figured out last year time doesn't exist, just movement of matter/energy from one point to another and no past or future :>

Time doesn't exist, huh?

Watch how fast these Internet scientists will disagree with this statement:

God created the universe in six days.

The disagreement is in regards to the universally accepted notion of time.

Time is "real" in the sense that Bugs Bunny is real: we can see Bugs, we can hear him, he has a clearly defined personality, and he's definately had an effect on television and culture; as a result, it's possible to be "right" or "wrong" about Bugs, like saying he's actually bear, instead of a rabbit; likewise, the Creation can be wrong about the "time" it took for earth to form.

Though we can perceive Bugs, it doesn't mean he's real. But facts about Bugs can be still be wrong, such as when he was first broadcast on TV. Likwise with time and Creation.

There is what we percieve as time, the hands of a clock moving around the face of it, each second/minute/hour/day is repersented by the movements of the hands. But in reality there is no change in time it's still that same moment, all thats happened is that the matter of the hands is moving around, the year is just the planet moving around the sun, the day just the earth rotating.

In us it's just our memories being encoded our moving and such that create a perception of time, we've evolved or if you want it for you, were created to percieve these movements as time. But they arn't anything but matter/energy moving.

Time is a name we give to ammounts of movement, to measurements of this movement. But there wasn't a point at wich the hands are in another position on the clock, we can't go back to the point where the hands were in another position, because they have simply changed their position. If it's right...kinda depressing because time travel is impossible as there is no point at wich things are in another place heh.

Not sure I'm explaining it well it's easy to picture in my head, but not sure how to put onto paper.
