Truly universal music. This is the only record that everybody should own, although a few dozen others are strongly suggested.

i was going to say the same thing. i also think everyone should have some mogwai, i'm into the ten rapd album. i think i'd suggest interpol as well. and portishead for something kinda sexy

I'd 2nd the Mogwai shout, although Slint were more seminal. When I first heard Portishead I truly had nont heard anything like it before, think they're style, sound and mood is still pretty unique.

Yes, but sigur ros is a universal release, and it combines myriads of feelings (nice and fellow to the beautiful wails towards the end tracks uneducated people call banshees), and there is no language within the lyrics.

I have ones I like better (a few of them), but if there is one release that everybody should have, it should be ( ) by sigur ros.

I think everyone should hear "samskeyti" off that album. It's as beautiful an example of minimalism as I've ever heard.

I cannot say enough about this album , if you like melody , if you like amazing guitar , uplifting lyrics , a great vibe , an album that does sound truly inspired , and if you like some Classical music , get this album!
Many bands do exciting music , inventive , creative and daring , only YES do Beautiful music , and this is the peak of their career.
It has been my number one all time album on and off for 20 years.
Currently it is my number 2 all time fav , but the truth is it is joint number one.
I have a fully signed copy of this album (vinyl) framed above me as I type.

BTW , I never needed to do drugs when I was a teenager , why ?
Because i had albums like this one!
