There is a saying, "everyone has a price"... Is this true?

No. While money has some importance to me, it isn't so important that I would sell out any principle just because there were enough zeros in the figure. I'm not quite so grasping after riches.

Consider this... think of someone who you really wouldn't want to have sexual intercourse with.. could be somone of the same sex, or a 92 year old or whatever... Would you "sell out" and have sex with this person for £10,000? A million? A billion? A trillion.

I'm sure most of you would say yes, i think even i would have sex with a man for considerably less than a billion.

Okay, you might say money isn't important to you, but just think what you could do with a trillion pounds/dollars... You could probably solve famine in Africa with that sort of cash. That has surely got to be important to you?

So is it really wrong to "sell out", or does it just depend on what you do with the money?

It is not true.

There are Buddhist and Christian monks that have taken oaths of celibacy and poverty who would be very unimpresed with such an offer.

And here is another ethical question:

If you acted as a prostitute or did a one time pornographic video and received a lot of money, but it was all in the name of doing a greater act for the good e.g. using the money to establish an orphanage or school in Africa, would that be justifiable?

Certainly it is justifiable for a person to submit to sex in exchange for their life or someone else's, but would it be acceptable to submit to it to make a giant charitable donation to the impoverished?

Sure is.
Anyways, as soon as a person does it for whatever purpose, they obvioulsy find it justifiable.

No, because this is clearly an uncoerced act on the part of the moral agent, not an action undertaken in the face of coercion.

I think that the reason we will excuse someone who has to submit to sex to save his life or that of someone else is that the moral culpability belongs with coercer. The coercee is simply trying to minimize the inevitable harm.

For years I had been willing to drop anything I was doing to go over to a stranger's home and service said stranger for just $80 dollars.
Sometimes I will charge more depending on the time of night the client calls.
Payment amounts and type of service are always discussed before hand, and agreed upon

So..make sure you have your keys on you before you close that door

Well that depends on how much someone thinks having sex that has no emotional aspect or for money is wrong.

Generally, I'd say that allowing an evil (such as poverty) by omission is morally wrong unless to act otherwise violates a very serious moral principle. Since I don't see prostitution as a great moral evil, I'd have no problem with it.

Is it technically illegal, though, to offer to pay someone for sex? I thought it was only illegal to offer to have sex with someone if they pay you.

In our country it is illegal for a prostitute to loiter or solicit, or for a client to solicit 'persistently' or from a motor vehicle. It is also illegal to keep a brothel, or to pimp. Paying for sex with a child is illegal. However, it is neither illegal to pay for nor to receive payment for sex with an adult.
